In his opening press conference, Ryan suggested Suggs was doing nothing when being coached by the linebackers coach his rookie year. By implication saying that the linebackers coach in 2003 was crap. As near as I can figure he was talking about Mike Singletary. Doesn't it kind of give you pause to hear your coach think Mike Singletary can't coach? Maybe just a little?

Singletary probably dropped his pants in front of Suggs too.....chances are it didn't have the same impact as it did in SF.

It was Singletary's first year as a coach period, its not really surprising that he wasn't all that good teaching a college DE to play OLB.

Are you sure it was Singletary? In Baltimore they apparently have a ILB coach and a OLB coach. I know because the guy we just hired as the DC was their OLB coach.

the 49ers hired Singletary as their coach. that inherently means the guy can't coach to save his life.

Singletary's 49ers embarrassed us last year. What does that say about us, if the guy can't coach?

I forgot that Eddie DeBartolo still owned the 49ers. apparently the new owners who have run it into the ground and can't take credit for any of that success have to.

nice try, but logical analysis of the 49er organization has passed you by.

Well the first thing Ryan did today was throw Bush under the bus. Ryan said, "with all the cameras he was expecting to see the new President. He then said that's OK we'll get the chance the meet him a couple of times the next couple of years". He threw Bush under the bus. I mean he never mentioned Bush was President the day he was hired and by not mentioning him basically threw him under the bus.

He also threw Obama under the bus too. As if to say Obama would want nothing more to meet him at the drop of a hat or he is at Ryan's beck and call. The fucking nerve to think a President would stop at nothing to sniff a bunch of jocks.

Yeah the next thing I thought when I heard Ryan speaking in terms of making this team tough was he was throwing Mangini under the bus. That was reinforced when he said "Read and react is for somebody else, we're going to be attacking, not to the whistle, but through the whistle" team any longer.

Then I thought he threw the rest of the leagues CB's under the bus when he had the balls to say Darrelle Revis was the best CB in the league. That meant he thinks the rest of them suck.

then I realized he threw the rock group Kiss under the bus when he said the Jets are not going to play "Kiss" any longer. He was going play "Kill". Imagine throwing Kiss under the bus like that?

How about Ryan throwing Suggs under the bus. He had the gall to compare Suggs to Gholston. Imagine how badly Suggs must feel to be compared to a guy with 13 tackles? The nerve of Ryan throwing Suggs under the bus like that.

I already hate Ryan, all he did all press conference long was continually throw people under the bus............ WTF?

considering the entire world knows of the 49er dynasty, nobody could rationally argue that the history is one of poor decisions, so how you could interpret my comment as such is beyond ridiculous. any argument of the piss poor ability of the 49ers would undoubtedly be a discussion on the organization now, not 20 years ago. that has nothing to do with mind reading.

either you are simply attempting to be argumentative, or your ability to comprehend the nuances of a position without it being spelled out for you are limited. next time I'll spell it out for you in big block letters. my bad, that's my fault that I had a higher opinion of the members here. this one's on me. you're right.

Dude, it's a message board. Sometimes you do have to be a little more specific. If you were talking about the Lions or Bengals, historically inept franchises, then your comment makes sense the way you are talking about it. Otherwise, it's not too much to say it lacked a little. Besides, it's naive to think DeBartolo isn't pulling strings.

being specific would have ruined its snide impact. the Niners are so poorly run they don't deserve to have their glorious past brought up in discussion with the decision making they have made in recent years.

I think the more likely possibility is that Ryan was referring to how Suggs was being used. While listed as a LB he spends most of his time playing as a DE, this was a serious bone of contention when BAL franchised him since DEs get more money than LBs. I think what Ryan meant was that since Suggs is mostly used as a DE he needed to be coached in that manner, not as a LB. This makes sense as an analogy as to how VG should be treated, guy isn't mobile enough to play in space, needs to be used like a DE.
