Holy Mother of Molasses, Our run D is so friggin' bad, it makes we want to puke blood. Remember when the raiders ran on us 28x in a row back in 2k3? Well, I could see that stuff happening again before the year is out. In addition, our running game isn't really very good, and Pennington is limited as a qb when we can't run the ball. In short, I think being at 2-3 right now is absolutely the best place where this team could be after the first 5 weeks. Either we don't have the personnel to play in these games and remain competetive, or our coaching kind of sucks on the defensive side of the ball -- we need to figure that out fast. Getting the ball run on you allows the other team to control the TOP and the team that does that wins more than they lose.
Our D has been bad but remember that it was only one week against a team that matched up well against us.
"Pennington is limited as a qb when we can't run the ball." he didnt seem very limited in our first 4 games.
Ahh, but he was playing inferior teams. Tennessee and Buffalo are going to end up in the bottom 5 or 6 teams in the league. Remember that. The other numbers he put up aren't bad, but the key is winning games and we're not really doing that right now.
Our D has been bad all year. Not one facet of it has been good: - no pass rush - poor run d - bad coverage d
You are right, the key is to win games. However, the teams we have played the last two weeks (Jaguars and Colts) are two teams that will end up in the top of the AFC. Going into those two games we had little chance to win either. Pennington has been playing great the first 5 weeks and has exceeded many peoples expectations. I hate how people on here jump on him after a bad start. Ben Roethlisberger has had a few bad starts why don't they just sit him? Jacksonville's D shut down the Steelers and they are much better than us.
Whoa. I'm not saying Pennington sucks. I'm saying this team isn't that good, and if you have no running game, it makes it exceedingly difficult to win in this league.
You're right--our run D stinks as bad as it did in 2003--one common element--Dewayne (multi-millionaire) Robertson--the guy is a BUST and the sooner the jets admit it and move on without him and Bryan Thomas the better--just because the jets screwed up and drafted them #1 and/or paid a king's ransom to get them doesn't mean they can play.
