    One note:

A reporter did ask about Bowers. I honestly don't know how our fanbase can possibly want Bowers, especially since he's not a 3-4 player. Rex immediately disregarded focusing on Bowers and basically told the media that Bowers is not for this scheme by praising Wilk and what Mo will bring to this team with his versatility and his work ethic. Its around the 3:10 mark.

His work ethic was mentioned multiple times. This kid is probably going to start week one for two reasons - who is in front of him, and how hard he's going to work at being a great player.

I still don't get why Bowers was being chanted for at Radio City by our fans. They need to wake the fuck up and stop watching ESPN

who said this kid is probably going to start week 1 - etc...?

most fans wouldnt know daquan bowers from a hole in the ground if not for espn. to think they were chanting to pick him shows how little most fans know about anything. i dont know much about this kid we picked up but he does look promising from what i have seen.

I personally think he is going to earn the starting gig after TC.

Thanks for the post. I am excited for this kid I think it was the pick of the night. (perhaps I'm biased?)

I think its the pick that is good value with a little risk involved due to the ceiling he hasn't reached yet.

If this kid reaches his potential, then he will be the next Trevor Pryce like Rex said.

    6'4 315... that's a giant dude.

Haven't been into the draft this year because of the CBA, but listening to Rex about a 6'4 315 hard working player and you gotta love the pick.

Are you really surprised by Bowers chants though? only maybe 3% (and that might be a hell of a stretch!) of NFL fans follow the draft in the way that we do. They see Bowers was projected as the #1 overall guy a month ago, and even upwards of yesterday was projected in the top 20 to the Bucs. Then when you have Kipers board scrolling (can they see that at Radio City?) on the giant monitors up there of the BPA's, with that big 6 overall player - Bowers. All they say is go get that Mother Fucker. They don't realize, or even care for that matter that he can't play in the 3-4, or that his knee is clearly so f-ed up that he was too much of a risk in the first round for anybody...

Funny, considering Jenkins isn't on the team anymore.

Edit: Also funny considering Wilkerson isn't a NT.

Like it's 100% that they won't resign him at a cheaper price later in the offseason, and I guess the Jets only run 3-4 for all of their defensive plays right? There will be plays where he'll play a DT as only Pouha is bigger than he is on the current roster.

Here's 5:45 of Wilkerson against Penn State as Rex mentioned. Enjoy.

I would still like the Jets to resign Ellis. With Ellis, Wilkerson and Pouha and Ropati Pituatua coming back along with Mike Devito the Jets will now have a very formitable defensive line - even without Ellis they should be improved with Wilkerson and Ropati back from injury.

I mentioned this game in another thread. As a PSU fan, that game scared the shit out of me. Temple's defense was strong that game. Royster had a decent game, but if I remember right, Temple only allowed one TD. Strong game for a team like Temple playing a major program like PSU.

Figures you beat me to the punch.

Add me to that list. He can still make impact plays and would be an excellent mentor for Wilkerson.
I've said it mant times on this board...Ellis is the most underrated player in this organization the last 15 years. Once he's gone, I think fans will finally realize what he's meant around here. Always, always plays his best vs. the Pats.

Yeah, add me to the list. I'm guilty of under-appreciating what Ellis has done for us, and I think he deserves another contract to finish his career in green and white.

Remember that game against Buffalo where he made that great play while holding that bong? That was awesome. I think the bowl was lit too.

Pryce is probably going to retire, or I get the feeling Rex would rather have him back than Ellis. If Ellis is willing to sign a reasonable deal I'd love to have him back.. with Wilkerson in town and hopefully Gilbert, Dixon, or Pitoitua stepping up, we can limit Ellis's playing time and keep him fresh. Plus having a veteran like Ellis or Pryce around can only help Wilkerson.
