What was that ref thinking calling a personal foul on the Hobson play? It was hard to hear the call because I was in a bar, but it sounded like the official called a blow to the head as the cause, or possibly said that Hobson drove Brady into the ground. Either way, he could not have stopped, didn't hit Brady in the head, and Brady jumped in the air when he threw the ball and that's why he got driven into the ground. That call very easily could have cost us the game since it took away an interception and gave the Patsies a chance to put 3 on the board. Think about it: this could have been the second week in a row when the officials cost the Jets a game. TBTF
it was horribe, and the fact that they didnt call Bruschi for helmet to helmet on Chad was ridiculous.
The call was horrible, and it cost us from going up 10-3 or 14-3 at half instead of 7-6. But thank god it didn't cost us the game.
if i was hobson i would say i would like to invite mike pererea to come to practice a teach me how to tackle a quaterback because obvisouly the way i was taught my entire life was wrong
The play looked clean, but the penalty for roughing was on Hobson for "driving" Brady to the ground. It's abunch of bull, though. Hobson was going full speed, left the ground, and hit Brady all before he even let the ball loose. I don't understand how, at that point, Hobson can suddenly straighten up while in mid-air and place Brady back on his feet when he was practically already parallel to the ground. It's a stupid rule, but I doubt it gets changed anytime soon with the league's new emphasis on protecting the QB.
I had forgotten about TB's hit on Penny. Yeah a clean shot to the head. I guess because Chad isn't one of the NFL's golden boys it's fine to smash him in the skull. Ridiculous. TBTF
Did you see how dirty Bradys jersey was, Im suprised we only got one roughing the passer penalty. They should just rename it the Brady rule.
oh my gahh. i was irate. that really could have been costly; imagine if the Pats scored a TD after that. on a similar note: anyone watching the Saints vs. Steelers game and see the "roughing the passer - below the knee" call on Aaron Smith against Brees? one of the worst calls i've ever seen. aaron smith came in, fell, landed AT Brees' feet with his hand on Brees' ankle -- and I am not exaggerating. complete bullsh*t. what's going to happen when these stupid QB-protection rules cost a team a Playoff game? cheers
It's because we were playing the Patriots. But now I don't care because we left Gillette Stadium with the Win
It's not just the Jets. The Steelers were called for a 15 yard penalty for roughing the passer because their player pulled drew brees' sock down - apparently that is a hit below the knee and by rule, roughing.
It really was ridiculous. Also, the officials gave the patriots 3 points at the end of the first half, here is why...Brady didnt get the ball off in time before the play clock expired, since this happened with 08 seconds to go in the half, the penalty should have been issued, plus the 10 second run off that occurs during that penalty, therefore leaving no time for the patriots to score 3. The roughing the passer was a BS call, and so was the situation where bruschi wasnt called on his helmet to helmet blow, it is getting worse every week.
Some of us pointed these out in the Game thread. It was just so blatantly obvious that you really have no choice but to think favoritism. I'll take the W and lack of calls......
