He not count against the 90-player roster. Lewis injured his head during Thursday’s practice. Lewis agreed to a pay cut May 27, dropping his salary from $5.8 million to $3 million for the 2021 season but eliminating the 2022 season from Lewis’ contract. He originally joined the Jets in 2019 and has played 24 games with 21 starts the past two seasons. The Jets also announced they activated offensive tackle George Fant from the COVID-19 reserve list. The team placed Fant on the reserve list July 27. He hasn’t practiced but was on the field working with a trainer during practice earlier this week. Fant will compete with Morgan Moses for the right tackle job after starting 14 games in that spot for the Jets last season. ****** Has anyone heard any more details about this, or has any ideas why Lewis may have left camp? I didn't think his injury was that bad. Could he be pondering retirement or seeing a specialist?
Not sure but he maybe retiring. That’s a huge guess on my part but I’m going off what happened last year and now this
IMO the first sentence you quoted is with regards to week 17 last season when he returned to the team, not this spring. It sounds to me like he is having some kind of mental issue.I can understand having issues with the CS and any players last year who were dogging it/just phoning it in and getting their paycheck, but not this year with all energy, excitement,competition, etc.

I know JD has a soft spot for him, but at this point I think we should cut ties. dude needs to be away from football or something and fix whatever is going on and we shouldn't be paying 7 mil to someone who isn't suiting up for whatever reason.
For whatever its worth -- Moore was rated as a 4th round prospect for the 2021 Draft & had a great week at the past Senior Bowl. But again, --- for whatever its worth.
Ah still he isn't contributing at all. Feeny is also making around 3 mil as is edoga and both are doing much more for the team. GRV is only making around that and seems to be the starting RG as it stands.
i'm getting so much conflicting info trying to look this up, but this seems to be the correct answer. if they are on the list to get under roster cuts then they can't return. (rule is made to prevent stashing players) if you keep them on the active roster and the list then they can return after mising a minimum of 3 games. The way the jets did it according to reports means he is done for the year from everything I read
