Here’s a stab at how I think the top 10 unfolds. This is based on BPA and needs of the teams. 1. Jags - Evan Neal OT - Lawrence needs a LT to protect him so he has more time to make plays. 2. Lions - Aiden Hutchison EDGE- I think Kenny Picket could go here too but they continue to build in the trenches. 3. Texans - Kayvon Thibodeaux EDGE - They need a pass rush. 4. Jets - Treylon Burks WR - Jets secure a true #1 receiver for Wilson. Burks is a perfect fit for the offence with his size and YAC potential. 5. Giants - Kyle Hamilton S - Pair him up with Peppers and they are set at safety. 6. Panthers - Kenny Pickett QB - They know Sam is a bust so they grab the best qb in the draft. 7. Giants - Ikem Ekwonu G - Need help on the OL. 8. Falcons - Derek Stingley CB - could be the best player in the draft if he’s healthy. 9. Broncos - Matt Coral QB - They take another shot drafting a QB. 10. Jets - Devin Lloyd LB - Excellent cover LB with great instincts and speed.
I like TB, just not at #4 for me. I do see the similarities to Deebo, although I think Deebo was a better route runner coming out. I actually see alot of Cordelle Patterson to his game. A multi dimensional weapon that can do alot, but will need to be schemed touches early in his career. Honestly, I'd prefer Christian Watson on Day 2 then TB on day 1. If I couldnt trade out, I would look at Ojabo/Karlaftis/Sauce at 4. I really like Lloyd, but if Sauce is there at 10, Id have a hard time passing on him. He's the cleanest prospect in this draft. I'd look to grab Chad Muma on Day 2. Other consideration Ojabo/Karlaftis if not taken at 4.
I think Burks is the best prospect in the draft for immediate success. At 4 if both pass rushers are gone he’s the best option. I see Andre Johnson mixed with Deebo Samuel in his game. He immediately makes our offence more dynamic. I don’t think he’s there at 10 if we don’t take him at 4 that’s the main reason I reached for him a bit. I actually don’t feel like it’s that much of a reach either. I watched every snap he’s ever taken and there is nothing this kid wants to do but play football. His blocking on run plays shows me this clearly. He’s also got HUGE hands that needs custom gloves and he uses them. I saw him drop 2 passes his entire college career that were his fault. 2!!! His QB play was sub par at best as well. He had to make plays himself breaking tackles and huge YAC yards (that’s what reminds me of Deebo). His combination of size, speed, athleticism and ability catching the football is what reminds me of Andre Johnson. Honestly we would regret not taking him at 4 within 2 years of him in the league. I feel strongly he is the best WR in this class and that’s what our offence is craving. A true go to number 1 to pair up with Moore. I’m not sold on Ojabo with AH getting all the attention with double teams. No way I take him at 4. I like Sauce a lot too but I like Lloyd more. Lloyd is all over the field on his tape. He literally does not stop. One of the best motors along with football IQ that is through the roof. His abilities to cover and stop the run is unreal good. We pair him up with Mosley and that helps out our D tremendously. Karlaftis is definitely the most unknown I feel in this draft. He flashes greatness with his power and motor but when I watched all his snaps from this year I found he gets caught up field a lot and doesn’t have the speed to recover. Also with larger OT he wasn’t effective with the bull rush. He doesn’t have too many moves it’s mostly power. That can be a problem against NFL tackles.
I get it. He's a physical specimen. I just think he needs more WR specific skills to warrant a top 5 pick. I don't yet see a go to #1 WR. Honestly, I think London fits that mold more than Burks currently, even in his more limited football career. Burks has a higher ceiling though. Regarding Ojabo, yes he played opposite Hutch, but the same can be said about Hutch. He's only had 1 year of production too. Hutch is more technically proficient, while Ojabo is more Athletically gifted. Lawson would be terrific player for Ojabo to learn from and try and emulate. Karlaftis does lack the athleticism of Ojabo/Thibodeaux, but he's a better tactician and hand fighter than both of them.
I think London is going to be a huge let down. I see Michael Pittman 2.0. He’s really lean and kinda a 2 trick pony in fades and back shoulder throws. Honestly, comparing Burks to London is apples to oranges. I think he’s got huge bust potential. If I had to rank both 2021 and 2022 WRs I’d have Burks only behind Chase. He’s that good. Jets simply can’t afford let him slip past 4 IF BOTH KT and Hutch are taken. Now if let’s say KT is there at 4 I’d take him over Burks and pray he falls to 10.
Agreed, I like Burks a lot but really think that him 4 is reaching. also, is there a reason that you keep putting Ekwonu as a guard?
That's how I feel about this WR class in general. I don't see a Chase in this class. I don't think any are worth a top 10 selection. I've mentioned this before, but I would look to day 2 for a WR, or late 1 if a guy we like slips. Regarding London, I see more Keenan Allen, Plaxico Burress in his game then Pittman, but I can see some similarities. I'm not gonna champion for any of these guys early, as I'm not in love with anyone. Wilson, is probably the best fit for our offense, but we already have Moore who has a similar skill set Burks and London give us something we don't currently have, although, both go about it differently. London is more tactical and nuanced in his route running, terrific body positioning/control, great hand goes and gets it in contested situations. Burks is an athletic freak, yac, vertical routes, sweeps, physical runner, etc can be a multidimensional weapon. However, I think Watson is a guy that can do all of this too, but will be a day 2 pick. I think he's a better route runner too.
I think this class is underrated at WR actually. Burks, Wilson and Williams I think will all be good players in the league and even pro bowl type numbers. I just don’t want to waste a pick on the OL or Safety at 4. We need an absolute stud there and from all the film I’ve watched 3 guys stand out(excluding AH and KT) the most Burks, Stingley and Lloyd.
I don't have a problem taking Burks at 4 if that's what JD decides, but I question taking a LB at 10, especially if you take Burks first.
Love both choices, but IMO, I think JD will go OL with one of those picks. If we don't address CB in Free Agency, Sauce Gardner would be a perfect fit for Saleh's defense at # 10, I'm surprised he didn't make your top ten. Love his size, can play cover or zone. We'll have a better idea after Free Agency.
I think the value at WR is mid/late 1st through 2nd Rd. There are several players I think will be good beyond the big names. Agreed on OL at 4, but I wouldn't hate it either. With the uncertainty around Becton, I wouldn't blame JD. I'm not a big Stingley guy. The best CB in my mind is Sauce. Hasn't allowed a touchdown since high school. Gave up less than 20 yards a game in 2021. Remember, while Saleh was in Seattle and Jacksonville they had Sherman and Ramsey. That helped to transform both defenses.
Pittman would be a star if he didn't have an idiot throwing him the ball or being in a run first offense. He had 1000 yards + 6 TDs this past season - it's only going to go up.
Ya it was between sauce and Stingley for the top 10 and Stingley just has too high of a ceiling to not be in there. I hope JD doesn’t go OL 3 years in a row it doesn’t make any sense. We should resign LDT and sign Ryan Jensen in free agency. We need impactful players and Burks/Lloyd are exactly that!
You could be right. To me lean go up and get it WRs are just too one dimensional for me and this offence. We need WRs that can make plays after the catch and can win in jump ball scenarios in the red zone. That’s why I love Burks. He brings it all to the table. He’s the total package similar to Andre Johnson.
Our D was an abomination in both the passing and run D. Lloyd is that sideline to sideline dog who is super athletic and has great instincts. He’s great in coverage and also really good and breaking up run plays. Watch some film on him it’s very impressive.
Pittman is 6'4 -- he is literally the go up and get the ball in the red zone guy..? This was in a monsoon primetime game in SF. I don't disagree about wanting Burks, but your take on Pittman is terrible.
Drake London is the WR to get no doubt. His catching radius is insane and his ability to catch contested pass is unmatched.
I’m not trying to be mean but I really don’t think you watched much of Pittman since he’s been a pro if you think he’s one dimensional.
