I know nothing about and have never played either. It's really been all-sports during my video game run recently, with GTA the only exception. I assume many people have both but I'm only looking to go for one. Metallica and The Beatles are two of my top 3 bands of all time (The Stones, the other). So with The Beatles Rock Band coming out in September, and Metallica Guitar Hero out now...what do I do?
I like Guitar Hero more. It's more challenging as the notes can be spaced out on the different frets. Rock Band seems more repetitive then anything. Mix in the fact that career mode is awful in Rock Band. I think Metallica is a way more fun band to play then the Beatles. Anyways... you could always just buy Metallica now and then get the Beatles when it comes out in September.
Rock Band. I've owned every single version of both, and Rock Band has surpassed GH by far in the multiplayer realm. I can't even get anyone to play GH any more to make it worth the money.
I think rockband is a better game but the instruments are interchangeable so u can just go and purchase the other games
I agree that as a platform, Rock Band fits my interests as well as my friends' interests much better. Overall though, it really comes down to which band you like more. I'm a big Metallica fan so I'm loving GH:M, and I'm not much of a Beatles fan so I'll probably skip that one. However, If Metallica were on both I'd definitely go for the RB version, I just find some elements of Guitar Hero frustrating in their design. FTR, I voted Metallica because of the nature of this poll.
I'd say it depends on your style... If you're going to play solo a lot, then Guitar Hero. If you're only going to play with friends though, or more than 2 people often... then Rock Band.
Wrong. Guitar Hero guitar (worse instrument) plays on both, but Rock Band guitar only plays on Rock Band. Plus the RB guitar has the tapping frets up top so you don't have to strum solos.

So on the whole Rock Band/GH debate... I've switched sides. I've been playing Rock Band ALOT lately and having a blast. I've downloaded a shit ton of DLC. Thats what makes Rock Band lightyears ahead of GH. My drumming has gotten so much better now it's crazy. I'm playing it on Expert.. same with Guitar. However, from my POV I'd go with GH Metallica. I played it, it was badass. Rock Band Beatles isn't my speed though. I'll be getting one of the guitars that they are releasing for it, though. Looks amazing.
Mwahahaha...welcome to the dark side... Seriously, I loved the first 2 Guitar Hero games, but the 3rd one just about killed the franchise. I still bought World Tour, but I really haven't played it much. I do prefer the World Tour guitar to the RB guitar, though. There's really no substitute for having over 300 songs to play on RB2.
Yeah, GH3 was awful. The last boss battle with the devil was fucking insane. Even on Hard it took me months to beat that shit. World Tour was cool and everything but the game looks so cartoonish. I also can't stand everytime you play an encore the stage does something ridiculous. Rock Band is less stupid, way more fun, and a much bigger library of songs. I have something like 250 songs+ on mine. All the RB1 songs, all the RB2, and a bunch of DLC. When I saw the Foo Fighters Colour and the Shape album, that was a must buy. Next week they are releasing Iron Maiden's greatest hits or something. I think they should do a Green Day greatest hits with all Dookie and Nimrod songs. That would be fucking awesome.
Yeah, the only problem with doing a ton of GD is that they'd get a bit boring on Guitar. I'd still buy it, but only because I dig the songs, not for the challenge of it.

Yeah, I'm the same way. If I like the song, I'll buy it. The challenge doesn't really matter. The GD pack would be awesome on drums, though. There is a new Rock Band game coming out on PSP, Rock Band Unplugged. Most of the songs that are on that game will be released as DLC on Rock Band 2. 2 must buys for me... What's my Age Again by Blink 182... and fucking ABC by the Jackson 5. That shit is going to be hilarious.
First Green Day track pack has been released. Comes out July 7th. It's all songs off their new album. -21 Guns -East Jesus Nowhere -Know Your Enemy They said there's definitely more Green Day coming. Hopefully Dookie or Nimrod full album next.
