I think he deserves his own thread holy cow this guy is a stud and guaranteed to make the team after tonight GO JETS
Robby Anderson at 6'3 absolutely stole the show throughout preseason while putting up 13 receptions for 264 receiving yards (20.3 yards per catch) & 3 TD receptions. Anderson just had a 'Victor Cruz' type of preseason emergence. Cruz put up 15 receptions for 297 receiving yards & 4 TD's during his breakout preseason. I'm starting to believe that Anderson could be on the verge of passing Enunwa as our 3rd receiver within the near future. Marshall & Anderson on the outside with Decker working out of the slot is something I expect to see here in 2016.
Never mind being our Victor Cruz. How about him being our Wayne Chrebet part 2. The guy has been fantastic and I'm eager to see what he does playing with the A-team.
As NCJetsFan will attest, I've had an unrequited man-crush on Anderson since well before he put up any preseason stats.....
Honestly, I think he's already passed Enunwa insofar as position goes. QE plays out of the routes that our TE's would run.. That is if we had any TE's worth using to run routes. Robbie looks like legit guy on the outside across from Marshall. Smith was supposed to be that guy, Kenbrell was that guy for a hot minute at the end of last season.
I mean it in the monster preseason sense out of nowhere... But yes, in the same sense our Chrebet... Although he is a completely different type of WR
He essentially plays a different position than Enunwa (he's more of an H back) so he wouldn't pass him. Enunwa's big frame and blocking is critical to our run game. But they'll find a way to get Robby his snaps.
Preseason is exactly that, preseason. But what Robby Anderson just did shouldn't be overlooked nor unrecognized. He literally balled out and imo earned rights to our starting outside WR position opposite of Brandon Marshall (when Decker's inside the slot). Not taking anything away from Enunwa but last year during 12 games (6 starts) he only put up 22 receptions for 315 receiving yards and 0 TD's. Although Enunwa is physically built for the red zone so when we're within the 20 I'd fully expect Enunwa to play over Anderson. He's yet to play alongside the likes of Fitzpatrick, Marshall, Decker & Forte but I really believe that Anderson has shown us (preseason or not) that he's got the capabilities to really impact for us on the outside. Brandon Marshall (outside). Eric Decker (inside/slot). Robby Anderson (outside). Quincy Enunwa (outside/inside). Jalin Marshall (inside/slot, KR/PR). Charone Peake (outside). As a front office you can't let any of these kids go. Although Anderson absolutely stole the spotlight.
Loved his "film" (aka YouTube highlights) after we picked him up, glad that he's been able to make a splash. He goes up and extends himself for the ball then pulls it down with his hands. No body catches, and knows how to stay upright and pick up some YAC. He's definitely earned a roster spot but let's see how he does against better competition. Is he Victor Cruz or David Clowney? We'll find out soon enough. BTW, is it just me or does Anderson not look like he's 6' 3"? Peake is listed at 6' 2" but he looks taller to me.
Funny, I was thinking the exact same thing. He has made these great catches down the field, but lining him up in the slot with Marshall on one side, Decker on the other could really be beneficial down the road.
Fucking guy catches everything. I've seen people say he needs to gain weight, but I don't think that's the case. Devin Smith needs to gain weight. Robbie just needs reps. Nobody ever made Moss gain weight, because the way he played was perfect for his body type. This guy is fine just the way he is.
At or near the goal line for running plays maybe but seeing how Enunwa dropped almost 50% of the passes thrown his way last year, he's not what I'd call an ideal Red Zone threat whereas Anderson has vastly superior speed, a quicker release off the line, a bigger catch radius, superior ability to pluck the ball at the high point, better leaping ability, superior body control and finally, far softer and better HANDS. In fact, I believe he has softer and better hands than Decker and maybe, just maybe even Marshall. He actually started with the 1st team last week against the Giants although Marshall was sitting. The kid is scrawny but by no means is he weak. He, along with Worthy, is the fastest player on the team. Unfortunately, Worthy's prospects (even for the PS) may have grown dimmer with PETTY getting hurt early last night whom I had heard he was going to try to find for some plays....
I just want to see him with the ones. Dude can BALL...he's exactly what the Jets needed when they go 3 wide...they have someone out there that can hurt you if the defense decides to pay more attention to Decker in the slot or BMarsh...
There will be a statue of you made that the Jets and Giants will play for every preseason instead of the Snoppy one.It will say on it "The Guy who saw something in Robbie Anderson before anyone else"It will then be called the "Altoona Bowl"
