One of the most important political figures of the 80's, Nancy Reagan kept her husband's image clean and worked hard to manage the infighting that occurred in her husband's second term as his health was deteriorating.

We wouldn't have the image that we have of Ronald Reagan today without her tireless efforts to keep things sane at a time when events often seemed out of control.

The reason our image of her is a bit cloudy is that she leaned way out into the way of incoming fire when people were looking to take advantage of her husband and to capitalize on the sometimes chaotic politics around his second term.

You can pick whichever ones you want as most important. I think her focus on Gorbachev and keeping her husband on track with him was probably the most important, but the tussling with Haig, Weinberger and Regan were all important intercessions at times when her husband's influence was being used without his full cognizance.

There were others that have been edited out, for various reasons over the years. It has been reported that Nancy Reagan understood where Iran-Contra was going and how it was going to effect her husband's legacy early on in the scandal and that she did everything she could to make sure that decisions that were not actually made by him were reported correctly.

I read a statement from Patti Davis and was reminded what a jumbled mess the Reagan kids are. Now that it seems we're fresh out of occasions to pump them all full of Thorazine and wheel them out into polite society, hopefully they'll all have the decency to crawl back into their creepy, whacked-out holes and not bother us anymore. Unless Patti wants to show her naked junk to the world again. Even then, it better be extra naughty. That probably means lesbians. Of course.

But no more books. Geezus, puh-lease no more books!

One more, maybe. Gloves off this time. Nobody to hurt but themselves...and the idolaters.

I'm sure someone will make a movie about the Reagan's...Hollywood loves this stuff and I think they are interesting.

Way more then Nixon and Bushes

It'd be cool if they funded a series of movies about each one, in order. (Each movie being sort of tilted a bit towards that one's perspective.)
