Soon as they bury the sucker I am going to go find his grave and dance on it. You don't get away with the shenanigans in the '82 AFC Championship game forever. Not in my reality! *shakes his cane at Shula's departing ghost*
I was just going to post this, but I'm always late to the party. Title of the thread was going to be 'Tarp Removed, Don Shula Gets One-Way Ticket to That Great Mud Bowl in the Sky'. The guy can't even die without giving me agita. Oh, well, the Jets kicked his ass in Super Bowl III, and Walt Michaels was on the Jets coaching staff at least. This one's for you champ.
You mean I was supposed to cover the field with a tarp during a monsoon for the AFC Championship Game? My bad.....
I'll tell you something that I have on absolute good authority is true. I don't remember the circumstances of why it came up at the time - PROBABLY THE MUD BOWL - but I mentioned it many, many years ago on here. I'm going to preface it by saying I do NOT condone such behavior, but here it goes: Don Shula filed a vandalism report in FL in 1993. Someone crapped on his first wife's grave . . . on the 10th year anniversary of The Mud Bowl. Trust me, it's true, because I knew someone who was living there at the time and it was in the papers down there. Plus, he called me to tell me about it. Good luck tracking that incident down online today because you won't find it, but it's not an urban legend. Now I know that half of you will be appalled and the other half of you will "be appalled" but pretend to go about your day as if I never said anything. Let's call a spade a spade: whoever did that wasn't a fan of the Dolphins am I rigggghhhht. I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'.
I remember the incident - I lived down there at the time. I could have sworn it was around the summertime though? 1993 right? It was the first thing off the bat in the local news though ....
RIP to that asshole. Addtionally, I'm going to hear the appalling-sounding phrase "most winningest" several times over the next week.
Confirmation! It was DEFINITELY 1993. You may be right that it was in the Summer, though, now that I'm thinking on it more. My longterm memory scares even me. Of course the Mud Bowl was the '82 season but it was played on 1/23/83; but I think I combined the actual anniversary date of the debacle. That being said, it was no mistake that the mystery crapper did it 1993. If he did it in 1982, the message wouldve been lost, because I know The Mud Bowl Anniversary was definitely mentioned as a possible cause. If it was in the Sumner I guess John Doe Jets Fan couldn't Snowbird it down there in January. I just babbled a whole lotta shit, hahaha, sorry. Anyway, this one's for champ, too: championjets1983.
Don't forget their annoying fucking champagne and Mercury Morris pitching some new cure for baldness every year. I didn't mind it nearly as much the year the Cheats wound up choking on a giant cock by going 18-1. Even though Miami will always be the true pukes of the AFC East, it certainly made it more palatable. No, not the giant cock, the '72 Dolphins team with their bubbly and cigars, goddamn it. I had to play defense there before some wisenheimer turned it on me, thanks.
Morris was a drug pusher back in the day.....and perhaps it may have turned out better had NE finished 19-0. Then on the one hand the Dolphins and their silly weak 17-0 schedule gets pushed down a notch and on the other hand NE will always be a cheat anyway ( how many times were they busted?) One cheater bests another LOL
He was the torturer of the Jets before Bellichek. After the jets beat him and the Colts in SB III it was all Shula after that. The Griese and Csonka years. Drafting Marino while we took O'Brien yikes. The Mud Bowl, The fake spike. Great coach have to give him his due. RIP Mr. Shula
I've never forgiven him for leaving the field uncovered before the AFC Championship game in '82. The league did nothing. As far as I'm concerned, No tears shed here..
