According to ESPN radio, Williams and the Toronto Arganaut's (sorry I know that is spelled wrong) want to work something out. There may be a problem though (do the NFL and CFL have connections of some sort?), because of Williams suspension. Then again we all know why Williams wants to go to Canada......He was reportedly upset when he discovered Vancouver had no CFL team. GO reefers! If you ask me, Williams can't afford to sit out another year.
Ricky will join the Argo's, and then return to the Phinz in 2007. He'll be in great shape, and back to his old form in no time. This is a great solution for Ricky, and now he can prove to everyone {who doubted his sincerity towards the game of football}, that he indeed wants to continue playing.... His trade value will also likely skyrocket as a result of playing in the CFL. No matter what happens, this is good news for the Phinz in my opinion....
 What is his old form? He's only had 1 great year in the league so he'll be bakc to just being a good Rb who will get you 1,000 yards and around a 4.0 YPC? What moronic Gm would spend anything other than a late rd pick on him? Haven't enough draft picks been wasted on this guy? How si his trade value going to skyrocket? (if this was a joke, i apologize as I didn't get it)
Just a few years back, Ricky lead the NFL in rushing. He's much more than just your average-ordinary 1,000 rusher. You serious think that's all Ricky is capable of mustering these days???... What's moronic about trading a decent, early round pick for an elite RB? We're not talking first rounder here, but considering where his trade value is today, once he finishes playing in the CFL, it should increase quite a bit... The Jets got a 1st rounder for Abraham {who I personally think is average at best}, so I can't see why Miami shouldn't be able to coax a 2nd rounder from someone. Ricky was one of the best at his position, Abraham isn't even in the top 10 when it comes to DE's.... So to answer your question, if the Falcons were stupid enough to give you a first rounder for Abraham, I'm sure we'll find someone equally as stupid. Of course this all depends on Ricky, and what he's capable of accomplishing in the CFL, so I don't want to speak too soon... Ask Ditka and Wanny, they're the one's who gave up all those picks. In my opinion, Ricky fell short of his 2 / 1st rounders, but he was close to fulfilling his expectations in Miami. If he comes back, I have no doubt he'll be worth it... Like I said before, considering the current state of his trade value today, once he finishes up in the CFL, and things go well for him, his value will once again go up. Maybe the word "skyrocket" was too much for you to fathom.... It's not a joke, it's the reality of Ricky's current situation....
By the time he comes back "just a few years ago" will be FIVE years ago. He's been in the top 10 only 2 other times(the bot of the top 10 at 8 and 10) and he has never come close to having a year like he had in 2002. He's an immensely talented guy that wasted his talent and has been a mostly mediocre RB in the NFL when he should have been a superstar. first off he's only been elite 1 yeara nd that will have been 5 years ago, secondly NO traded a boatlad to get him and it didn't work out then Miami traded a boatload and it didnt' work out. Who si going to give up alot to get him after those 2 failed experiences? We barely got a 1st rounder and Abe has been a better DE than Ricky has been a RB. Ricky also will be 30 next year and 30 is a magic # for decline in RBs. Ricky was one of the best ONE year, Abe is one of the top pass rushers in the game. he was acquired to be the missing piece in getting beyond the 2nd rd, you never even playd a playoff game w/ him. he had 1 great year, 1 mediocre year and 1 half a decent year- that was fulfilling expectations? Let's say he's clean and leads the CFL in rushing- why would that skyrocket his value? It's the CFL not the NFL! You might as well send him to the Arena league.
Whatever Junc.... I can't discuss logical football with you on this topic. You think Ricky is a mediocre RB, and I think he's still one of the best in the NFL. With that being the case, we'll never be able to have a civilized debate. Only time will actually tell us everything we need to know....
He was THE best in 2002 but hasn't approached that level since. talent wise he's a top back but he hasn't carried that over to the field except for that 1 year.
gotta agree with Junc on this one. Alot of time is going to pass by the time hes reinstated in the NFL and its not like hes going to be 26 or something. He'll be 30 yrs old when he returns and hes a power running back, those things dont equal longevity.
He'll have been away from football for so long that when he comes back, he'll be a one-hit wonder. One hit from a linebacker, and it will be a wonder if he gets back up. :breakdance:
Ricky has only played two full seasons in Miami, gaining {1800 / 1300} in consecutive seasons. He missed all of 2004, and the first 5 weeks of the 2005 season. So, after looking at that fact, and knowing that Ricky has been a relatively healthy RB during that time, I don't think being 30 will have any barring on a team stepping up and offering a nice pick for him.... He's got low mileage on his frame, and his legs are still as fresh as they've ever been. If Ricky had experienced any major injuries during his career, I could see your point about nobody wanting him. But as it stands today, Ricky is still pretty much in the prime of his career, and has plenty of gas left in his tank. That's just my opinion....
So how long is "so long"???.... He's only missed one full season of football since coming to Miami. That's what you consider "so long"???...LOL!!!!!!
It happens all the time. You guys traded Abraham to the Falcons this year didn't you?? He's not worth a first rounder, and he's certainly no better than Ricky in terms of overall talent. The only knock on Ricky, that anyone has, are his suspensions, one of which is bogus. That's not enough evidence to convince me that he's slowed down any since joining Miami in 2002....
I know you got Dolphin pride and all, and want to remember Ricky forever, but truth is, he's a "never-will-be-again" back. Maybe he'll have a few good games, but for the most part he'll be average. That is providing the DOPE HEAD gets off the weed/drugs and plays it straight. And we all know how committed he is to doing that!
Instead of going through my post history and cutting and pasting my own words, I did a quick internet search and found this from Gil Brandt: Round 1 # Sel# Team Player Pos. School 1 1 Houston Mario Williams DE North Carolina State Gil Brandt's Analysis Well, the favorite in the Kentucky Derby doesn?t always win. Reggie Bush is going to be a great player, and he would have made a bigger splash, but with Domanick Davis already on the roster, the Texans have made a much bigger upgrade at defensive end than they would have at running back. It?s important to remember that Houston?s new head coach is Gary Kubiak, who spent 11 seasons as Denver?s offensive coordinator. Remember how the Broncos have been successful with running backs who were not taken in the first round (Terrell Davis, Mike Anderson, Olandis Gary, etc.). There were six teams who scored more than 25 points per game last season -- three had a left tackle drafted in the top 10, two had a left tackle taken in the top 20, and Denver?s left tackle (Matt Lepsis) was undrafted. Now Kubiak is bringing his system to Houston. The three most important positions on a football team are quarterback, left offensive tackle, and right defensive end, and Houston has added a DE who is much like Julius Peppers and has great upside. He should appear in multiple Pro Bowls.
He just ran for 743 yards w/ 6 Td's and an average of 4.4 per carry. That's all within 168 carries as well. Projecting Ricky to be a "never-will-be-again" RB, is a reach on your part in my opinion.... Was Ricky merely average in 2005???....Looking at the numbers, and the fact that he had to share carries with Brown, I think calling him average is an insult. Ricky is a beast, and he's proved that he can be a dominant force when his head is on straight... He's been very commited. He hasn't smoked weed in over a year, and anyone who thinks Ricky is still using mind altering drugs, is wrong. He's clean, and even though a banned substance ended his 2006 season, he wont let that keep him down. Ricky will be back!!....
