I'm sorry, but EVERY game Kerry Rhodes is constantly out of position, misses assignments, gets confused in coverage, gets to the ball late, misses tackles, and god forbid sacrifices his body like Troy Polamalu to make a tackle, instead of running parallel with opposing players "waiting for the right angle".

Rhodes is a fraud, has no heart and is a dog. Get rid of his ass and let some other player who's hungry to make plays see some action. I?m so sick of seeing this crap play?

Barton is another waste that should retire for pretty the same reasons...

Rhodes will come up big in the next two weeks. He'll make a play when we need it most.

Sorry, I'm just angry at this sloppy crap play week in and week out....There's no accountability on this team. All we hear from Mangini is "Core Jet Values" crap. What about consistent fundamental football?

Eric Barton leads the team in tackles with 102...82 of them being solo (which also leads the team).

The defense has been inconsistent....but this guy is one of the few that have been tackling consistently and well.

I think you need to do your homework before you start creating threads like this. :)

don't threads on both of these guys already exist?

I don't know where this absolute hate for Rhodes is coming from around here all of a sudden. He hasn't had his best year definitely, but I think that can be attributed to the secondary overall. Him and Revis have more ground to cover. Rhodes can't take the same angles or make up ground like Polamalu, you're comparing him to one of the fastest people in the entire league.

Barton is decent, but he will gone next year because he will want years and money. If he returns cheap, great. But if not I think we could find a younger player to develop with more upside, and cheaper.

your shot bro and have no idea what you are talking about. Barton has been outstanding this season. if you cannot see that you are clearly blind.

As for Rhodes, if you cant tell they changed his responsibility and his overall "jobs" in this defensive scheme then you are blind also. He was a playmaker last year cause they actually let him blitz and he wasnt playing deep centerfield almost on every play.

Unless we change Rhodes role in this defense or get another coordinator that knows how to utilize his talent then Rhodes wont be making nearly as many plays as he once used to.

Bottom line Rhodes is a key to this secondary and will be for a long time. One of the most talented and athletic players on our defense, not to mention outstanding leadership and a great attitude.

he mentioned the tackling needs to get better in the press conference. But Rhodes is not being used the same way like last year, so he does look like shit.

Its like what they did with Bryan Thomas last year. He has 8.5 sacks, and then they switch him to the other side of the 3-4 and put him in more coverage. He also slacked off a little too.

    its Sutton.

I've seen Rhodes flash that playmaking ability a few times this year because of the few chances he's had. Its sad that he plays 25 yards off the field.

My faith has really dwindled in this coaching staff. I agree with the lack of fundamentals you mentioned - I don't see it either.

  9. I blame Sutton and the overall personell for Rhode's lack of production. Lack of help in the secondary, vulnerability to the big play and a conservative scheme all lead to Rhodes playing a deep patrol type role. He's actually freakishly good at it due to his speed, athleticism and size..but in the process is removed from using his playmaking ability. The opposite safety position desperately needs to be upgraded this offseason.

Mangini has to go. I just don't see him coaching on the sidelines. You never see him kneeling down in front of the Offense or Defense, giving some pep talks like Singeltary and Belichek do. And you never see him hold any player or coach accountible on the sidelines during games either. He just stands there with that stupid look on his face chewing god knows what......

Rhodes has not had as good a year this year as he did the last couple, I don't think many will dispute that. The play yesterday where he almost made a tackle for a 5 yard loss I feel like is one I expect him to make. With that said the entire defense has underperformed the last couple weeks and that includes Barton who has had a very solid year for the most part but even he has struggled recently.

Between Elam and Rhodes, Elam is the one you might as well use as a blitzer since he does that well but often screws up the coverage. Rhodes blitzes well, but he is reliable in coverage so it is better to send Elam.

Who is the one player you see getting upset when an opposing team scores on our defense? KERRY RHODES.

    Don't question his heart.

I know everyone loves Rhodes. But I am hugely dissapointed this year... No one can say he's been good in coverage as nobody outside of Revis has been good in coverage for us. And it's pretty obvious. Everyone hates on Elam, but he's the one making plays. Elam beat Buffalo twice this year.
