Sorry, yes another Rex thread...and I know he's gone but this thread had to be made because this is probably THE BEST article I've ever read: Rex's Last Stand This is a loooonggg ready but so well worth it!
Nope, don't plan on reading the link. The next NY Jet coaching link I read is that of our new man. Time to move on.
Fantastic article. We will regret letting him go when he has a competent GM building a team for him. I wish him nothing but the best, and it will hurt when he gets it done elsewhere knowing it could have/should have been here.
He had two GMs and three Offensive coordinators (and he hand-picked two of those guys). He had plenty of chances.
Nostalgic article, some spinning... Outsiders can wax poetic about Rex' losses based upon his stubbornness...I for one have had it.
Wasn't so bad, though every Grantland article feels like it's written with three table spoons of snobbery added.
If you had knowledge that the author that penned this piece(Taibbi) is a Patriots fan then the comparisons to Bellichick are grating.
HAHA I knew you'd like that one Mezz.. I actually already posted the link in the Rex hater thread. It was pretty fair. They praised and bashed at the same time, but overall the premise is what many of us feel that the good outweighed the bad. a good read
A good read. Maddening is the right word to describe Rex. I also buy the second chance thing. We have seen numerous coaches improve on their second way through head coaching. Sometimes you need that kick to make you look at yourself and what you need to improve on. Maybe this is it for Rex.
Despite the excitement of AFC East teams who are tired of ugly surprise losses, the rest of the NFL is disappointed in losing the ugly blowout wins against the Jets. That was easy to dispute the basis of the article and it came in the first two paragraphs.
Couldn't get past the first couple paragraphs without thinking the Jets made a huge mistake. Too tough. Well written article cronicling Rex's time with the Jets. I loved Rex and he was the best coach the Jets have had since I've been watching. Tough to see him go considering he deserved a hell of a lot better than what Idzik handed him but it's time. His firing of Schotty and his inability to hire a competent replacement staff since was his downfall. If he goes to the Falcons he'll have a ton of success with an established QB there. Whatever team Rex coaches will be my second favorite team. I'm excited and terrified by what the team is going to look like without Rex.
I'm with you on that one buddy! For those who didn't think it was a great read, regardless that he's no longer the coach, I'm kind of surprised. That was a great read if you are simply a football fan. That was a helluva football article. Even better if you are a Jets fan or Rex fan...maybe you missed it.
