Now don't get me wrong because I love Rex in many ways but... He criticized Sanchez for his face expressions and his demeanor... did he ever look at himself!?!? When he's winning he's the Rex we all love: bravado, confidence, leadership, sense of humor etc etc. Some might say he is even a bit too cocky and confident. On the other side when he is on losing streaks it looks like they have stabbed his dogs to death. All he does is mumble the same things over and over... Now I don't think anyone is expecting him to teach the world how to dougie after back to back losses vs division rivals but jesus h christ keep your emotions in check and show you are a leader Rex!!! The problem is, while I can easily see a 23 year old guy with few college&NFL games (Sanchez) progressively grow a "so called" pair (plus I'm his age so I think I kind of understand what is going through his head) I find it puzzling that Rex is still so emotional (for a lack of a better term) after being in the league so long. It's not like he's a McDaniels who's been an OC for two years and the n BANG he's the HC... Rex has been a DC forever before becoming a HC. My point: Rex, if you want Sanchez to be more of a leader when things go bad you'll have to get better at that too. It's part of what being a HC means... It's ok to show you're pissed... but show you're IN CONTROL too! PS I think he will do it... he's a smart guy with a lot of responsabilities in his hands... but god right now it's so frustrating...
His demeanor at that pressed was disturbing. I never expected rex to look so much like belechick after a loss. Time to move on to the steelers rex.
Understand your point. Both of them wear their heart's on their sleeve. When the Jet's drafted Sanchez, they not only fell in love with his athletic ability, but also his personality. Win or lose Rex has to accept Mark's persona, just like everyone accepts his...the good and the bad. The Jets just have to accept Sanchez the way he is, I don't expect him to change his demeanor, in fact, I wouldn't want it to change. I just want Sanchez to get the proper coaching and leadership, something he isn't getting from Shotty. Sanchez is a young kid, hopefully his game will improve, I'm sure it will, and his personality will be a mute point.
Agreed... in fact my problem isn't with Rex and Sanchez being emotional per se. What I wanted to stress is: don't let your emotions affect you too much when things go bad and you're in a leadership position. It's ok to show you're pissed... but show you're IN CONTROL too. Doesn't look like sexy Rexy is doing that right now.
You know....Rex made his bed and has to sleep in it. I love Rex, but if your going to talk the talk, and then get your ass kicked...it's not a pretty picture. That's why coaches are reluctant to show their emotions.
