thats a horrible fit for him same issues that sunk him as jets coach will be there in buffalo also i think though he really wants to face NE twice a yr still and he probably wants a piece of the jets too
Feels like he's taking over a team similar to the 2009 Jets. Very good defensive pieces, no QB, mediocre last year. Rex showed he can win with mediocre QB play, so BUF does;t necessarily need to find a star. But he also has shown he doesn't develop QBs. So for them they want to let Rex keep his strategy until they find a QB, then tell Rex to take his identity off the offense and try to develop the QB.
They need a vet QB badly. RR should have had a vet since day 1. Crazy that Sanchez is available. Holy shit!!
Such a RR move. I like him personally but he's so thick headed, selecting "the team that wants him most" instead of trying to coach in the best situation. If he fails in BUF for the same reasons he failed in NY he may never get another shot at a HC job. He needs Trestman badly.
And all the trolling bills fans who have made from of him for years have to now pretend they have always loved him.
I'm sure his agent checked back in with the other teams he interviewed with and they advised he shouldn't pass up the offer.
Rex Ryan has signed a 5 Year contract with the Bills. My worst dream has come true again.... (Revis to Pats was my 1st)
Rex and Roman have a loaded team in Buffalo. He should be able to make some noise there. One advantage of Rex's defense 1st and ground and pound is it wins in the playoffs. Offense wins in the regular season and defense wins in the playoffs. But he needs to make the playoffs which will be a challenge. But, it will be nice to see Rex make Brady's waning years miserable. The big question is who will be the QB? Locker might give that offense a good jolt. He does not turn the ball over. He makes good decisions and he is very mobile. He would seem like a great fit for a Rex type team. The question is his health.
I think it's way to early to say Locker doesn't turn the ball over. He has a 3.1 INT % in 23 games. Sanchez for comparison is at 3.6% in his career. In his short run this year, he had a 4.8 INT %. But yeah it's weird seeing Rex join a team where the offense is so up in the air. Opposite of what I expected
On the bright side it will be very hard for the Bills to squeeze Jay Cutler under the cap. Could be done but it would take some jiggering.
You forget Sanchez's fumbles. After Sanchez's first 4 years he was all time NFL leader in fumbles per game.
I was just comparing passing to Sanchez, because Sanchez throws a lot picks. Locker doesn't fumble as much, I think I read 10 in his career, but INTs are still a problem
Locker was making some real progress before his injuries in 2013. In 2012 he led the NFL in the least number of bad decision passes. He really was poised for a breakout year in 2013. I do not know the status of his injuries or his confidence. I would imagine given what he and the Titans have been through the last couple of years he is likely a mess both physically and mentally. But playing for a team like Buffalo would be perfect for rebuilding confidence as he would not be asked to do not much, would not have to play behind much and would not have the game placed on his shoulders. The FA QB pickings are slim to none and the draft class is very weak. Locker looks like a good fit Buffalo.
