    Per Cimini:
The one thing we know out of this is that Rex isn't getting canned tomorrow. Aside from that, the fact that Tanny isn't announced when he usually is at the wrap-up presser says a lot to me.

I wonder if Woody will have a separate one later.

Whoever the new GM is will pick their coach. If they pick Rex then there's no reason to fire him.

Woody is taking his time on making the most important decision he's had since buying the Jets. Good for him. He cannot afford to fuck this up. Rex has his presser tomorrow? Means nothing in the big picture as he could be fired on Thursday or friday or anytime before draft day.

Let Woody make the decision after getting all the facts in place. I don't have another 44years to wait on a quality franchise to develop.

For God's sake, let the circus leave town.

Which is why I said it means he's not getting fired tomorrow.

Personally I don't think it happens at all unless the GM search becomes absolutely impossible with Rex attached - something we may not know for weeks.

Firing Rex wouldn't be a good idea, IMO.

In my opinion Rex is getting fired! There is no way or how a new G.M will keep him. Every time there is a new G.m they bring their own staff ..

it still doesnt mean that...if they fire him he'll have a PC regardless. I'm not saying he WILL be fired tomorrow, but it's not out of the equation.

Great post! This decision will take time in order for it to be done right

I think he's 50/50 to stay. He will not resign so that exit possibility is off the table. The new GM is likely going to do a thorough assessment of the Jets and then have to decide whether it's worth it to blow up the defense and rebuild both sides of the ball. If he decides no then he's probably keeping Rex. If he decides to do a total rebuild then he's probably going to let Rex go.

I think tomorrow is only the beginning. Rex's fate won't be ultimately decided until Woody figures out who the new GM is going to be.

Maybe Rex is going to announce that Mark gives us the best chance to win

Alternately it can also take time and still have it done wrong.

The Jets have the personnel to run a 4-3 base D. Don't be surprised to see that switch with a new coach.

I would guess that the new GM will cut Sanchez if he decides to hang on to Rex. Will be tough to work the numbers but he'll know that if Sanchez is on the roster the odds are that he will be the guy that Rex thinks gives the Jets the best chance to win.
