What is wrong with this guy? No one is afraid of anyone at the NFL level, on the contrary it will elevate the opposing teams desire to shut him up and put up as many points as possible against the jets.
What do you mean what's wrong with him? He is just speaking about his players with public confidence. It's a good thing. Rex's confidence really helped his players confidence in those years they played great. He brought too much pressure on his guys with the SB guarantee and a couple particular statements, but in general he's just amping up his guys. When they hear him talk about them in public, it makes them feel like he really believes in them. It's a great strategy.
Jets have always played decent D under Rex, they are a hard hitting team that doesn't just die. I would agree with Rex's statement.
The media has such a hard on for Rex..its silly at this point. He probably had a 15-20 minute interview and they take out one line of it and act like he scheduled a press conference to just announce that he thinks no one is going to wanna play the Jets. Slow news day.
a coach is excited about his roster going into the season a fan base has a problem with it news at 11
I have heard it all for 5 years now, it take skilled players to win in the NFL, not a coach who amps up his players, all the hyping up did not help Clyde Gates or Schillens become elite NFL players. I hope he has a good strategy for his offense to find a way to score some points and help the defense win some games, that would be great strategy. Saying other teams don't want to see them on their schedule is not strategy, it's a bunch of hot air that no one believes. The jets have a tougher schedule this year starting with the: Raiders Packers Bears Lions Chargers Broncos Enough with the talk, I want to see results with this coach or send him packing.
Now thats the rex i know! CANT WAIT! I think he's right. If this team gels together and play up to their potential oh mann we could be in for a treat. But were young so its gonna take time before were really giving EVERYBODY problems..but its coming.
When Rex says things like that he's taking the bullseye off the players and putting it on himself. I believe it's a good move on his part. Stories about how Rex thinks the Jets are good are better than stories about how Geno Smith is in over his head.
i love rex.but he really needs to shut up..we play 6 weeks of some tough teams who are prob looking forward to playing us.. media takes everything he says serious so after we loose a game this stupid quote will be brought up… i hate when he said the 2012 team was the best he's had.. as a fan for 25 years… that was the worst i ever had to deal with and we went 6-10. just coach rex please
There aren't too many offenses that 'look forward' to playing against the Jets defense. Our run defense is always near the top, which means our D-Line is BLASTING ppl game after game. No body looks forward to getting BLASTED. And the Jets handed opposing QB's one of their lowest QB Rating of the year, second only to Dick Labeau (Steelers). Fantasy league players dumped QBs playing against the Jets more than any other team last year. Maybe you don't appreciate our defense, but most of the NFL sure does. Anyone notice how many D-Lineman went early this year? Copy cat league. Guess who they're copying?
Are you referring to the Bengals, Buffalo, Titans, Panthers, Raiders? Guess what all these teams have in common? They put up 30 plus points on the jets defense. Please stop believing this urban legend that Rex has put out there, no one is afraid of the jets defense, the same way no one is afraid of the steelers, ravens. Tom Brady is 7-1 against the steelers defense, you think he is intimidated? These players are at a level that we cannot understand, I think the contrary is what happens at that level, and the other teams bring their best games just to shut the opposition up. Please don't mistake my realism for indifference in regards to the jets defense. I enjoy watching them an I like that they play hard and keep them in games, but I don't think for one moment anyone is afraid to play them. JMO
The Jets won at least two games last year where the boss was scared and the rest of the team fell in line, that being the wins against the Pats and the Saints. They almost won a third game in that category against the Pats early on. Rex is right, QB's do hate playing against his defense. It takes them out of their comfort zone and gives them unpredictable reads and generally screws with their head.
What's wrong with him? He's a delusional freaking moron, that's what. I despise him, and he can't get fired soon enough to please me.
I can tell you this for a fact. NO team looks forward to playing a Rex Ryan defense. Now in past other D's looked forward to playing the Jets offense but I think that going to change a little season this especially if Vick is the starter.
What do you expect? When a HC makes an idiotic, assinine statement like that, every reporter is gonna print it. It's controversial. It doesn't matter that it's only one statement. That's not infrequent whether the one point is controversial, an important point or whatever. The point is he shouldn't say stupid shit like that. He doesn't learn from his mistakes. He paints a target on the Jets and gives bulletin board material to opposing teams. On most teams, idiotic players who make statement like that are told to shut up or are fined. Only on the freaking Jets does the GD dumbass HC make those kinds of comments.
