Hey guys, now that the season has gone to total shit, it's time to do one of my favorite things and that's to analyze the off season and draft. With me being in college, it's tough to have scouted all players so far so this first mock will be 3 rounds worth. I'm sure a lot of people will have a lot of questions so i'll answer them at the end. Also, this is going off of our pick right now CURRENTLY (#11), not where I think we will end up. Anyways, I hope you guys like it and tell me how you feel

ROUND 1, ERIC EBRON, TE UNC
    [IMG]

Say hello to your new tight end, Eric Ebron. Initially I was against selecting a tight end in round 1 and argued with someone who had us selecting Ebron in the 1st round, but this kid has really grown on me. Sometimes on tape he almost seems uncoverable as he makes some incredible catches. He is extremely athletic and a few years down the line I think he will become a top tier TE. Also, he is a more than willing blocker, something that people need to consider more when looking at the tight end position. One of my knacks on him is he drops some relatively easy passes, but overall his hands are definitely above average. Definitely the best value we can get at this pick.

ROUND 2, JARVIS LANDRY, WR LSU

Jarvis Landry is my man crush in this years NFL draft. This guy defines jets football in my opinion. Jarvis just pops off the tape as he seems to catch everything remotely near him, his hands are almost damn near perfect. He runs crisp routes and always seems get open. Even if he isn't open, he'll still fight for every ball in the air, which is pretty awesome for a 6'1 WR. He's willing to fight for every single yard and at heart is a football player, which is exactly the opposite of Stephen Hill. He'd be best suited in the slot and I know a lot of people here might want a taller WR (Brandon Coleman, Dennis Robinson), but I actually have Jarvis Landry marked down as a 1st round player and think he would be awesome value here.

ROUND 3, DAVID YANKEY, OG STANFORD
    [IMG]

Our offensive line has been pretty damn bad recently and it's almost disturbing. Brick and Mangold's play has fallen significantly, but I honestly think they just need some help. No way Brick goes from giving up less than 5 sacks last year to playing like total shit this year. Enter David Yankey, a player that has been apart of dominant offensive lines for Stanford. He has played both inside and out and is projected to play guard in the NFL. He's a quick athlete and good in both pass and run blocking. Our offense depends heavily on the offensive line and hopefully winters + yankey can help the offensive line get back to it's 2009-2010 days.

ROUND 3, CALVIN PRYOR, S LOUISVILLE
    [IMG]

Unfortunately, I think Deone Bucannon is off the board here so we select the next best safety, Calvin Pryor. Some people might of hoped we take Tre Boston over Pryor as he is more of a FS and ball hawk, but Pryor to me just seems the better overall safety. He more of an in the box safety and this guy CAN HIT HARD. He can still cover well and I think his strength can give Gronk some trouble. He might not be the FS we are looking for, but he is my BPA.

Some questions I expect to be asked are why no quarterback and why didn't I address the OLB position. The biggest reason why I didn't select a QB in this mock is because we truly need to set the foundation of this offense up BEFORE we get a QB. By drafting weapons and offensive linemen, we can set up our QB to be successful and not just throw him into the fire. I've considered picking Aaron Murrary and AJ McCarron, but as of right now I've decided to keep them out of my mock.
Concerning the OLB position, I think we can handle it in free agency and our defense is already pretty nasty with average OLBs. Antwan Barnes was playing well before he got injured and I expect Coples to get better with experience.

Anyways, thats my mock guys! Hope you enjoy it, this draft is going to be a lot of fun

Ebron and Landry are two of the top players in this draft. I could see the Jets getting one of them. Ithink both are going in the top 20.

Why not draft one of the big 3 WR and then ASJ in the second. Ebron might be a bit of a reach at 10-11.

I just can't see not taking a QB in a draft that's so deep at the position. We should be able to pick up a franchise caliber QB in the 2nd round.

Other than that I like the picks. I'm torn between Ebron and Lee in the 1st, but I'd certainly take either.

Might want to take Yankey in round two if he falls that far.

If things don't get any better in the next 4 games, we may be in the Watkins/Evans for WR sweepstakes.

Don't count out Jace Amaro, he has made it know he will declare and could be the top TE drafted. Amaro is a much better athlete than Ebron and I really like Ebron. I expect 3 TEs to go in round 1.

that's why i made it clear that this is going off of where we pick currently. look, i don't want to be THAT fan that wants to throw away the season, but i really hope we lose every game the rest of the season so we can get watkins.

jace amaro has been awesome, you're definitely right about that

Ebron being a reach as in he won't be there or too high of a pick for a TE?

Don't need a slot receiver with Kerley. Better off getting a stud in Watkins, Evans, Lee in round 1. If be ecstatic if we took of one if them and either traded back up early 2nd/late 1st to get Van Noy or grabbed the 3rd tight end that hasn't been drafted yet.

sometimes i don't think people understand that you MUST draft BPA in almost every instance

in my eyes, jarvis landry is by far the BPA there and ebron is better value than lee

I think Jarvis Landry could easily be available in the second. Especially if we have a high pick.

Interesting read - so long as we go Offense; offense; offense in the first 3 rounds I will be happy enough
