This game was a nightmare, but I would just like to remind everyone that Revis shows up every game, no matter if we or lose, and he shut Nicks up. Revis showed once again why he is the best player in the NFL.
Champ Bailey, Nnamdi Asomugha, Darrelle Revis, they've all been the best at one point or another. Cornerbacks are like the top person in a cheer pyramid. If everything else goes right they look wonderful and contribute mightily to a winning performance. If anything goes wrong from the ground up to them however nothing that they do matters in the end.
The amount of passes Revis knocked down today was just flat out absurd... Win or lose the man brings 110%
And although his skills are not overhyped the contribution that they make to victory is. It's the perfect clusterfuck. The Jets have one All-Pro player and only Punters, Kickers and Returners have less overall value than the position he plays.
?????????????????????????Moneyball???????????????? ?? WTF happen 2 Revis? When I know he can beat all the competition. Las Vegas? WTF? Soft coverage? BFS! This is not the Revis I know. Moneyball? He is the best of the best and got beat by bums. Rex exulded this F!@$^%NG question on soft coverage. REX WTF dont be a sell out punk. How the F*%! does this happen? BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I do agree that the impact a CB has on a game are overhyped, I do think they've become more valuable in the modern NFL because of the increased focus on passing by most teams.
How many great CB's are making the playoffs this season? The thing that's sad is that even when you take into account the fact that players on playoff teams tend to make All-Pro teams more often great cornerbacks are under-represented in the playoffs. The thing that's shocking this year is that the really great pass rushers are going to be sitting out also for the most part. It seems illogical that in an era marked by great passing that the great corners and great pass rushers would be having less success making the playoffs but for this year at least that is true. The Eagles have a couple of great corners on their roster and a couple of great pass rushers and they're already eliminated.
For no INT's, that was one of the greatest CB performances I have ever seen when it comes to timing and deflecting. I cant ever remember seeing a CB deflect so many passes. Truly an amazing player.
I said this to my buddies watching the game; that was top 3 Revis performance since he's been a pro. Not only did he have 5/6 pass break ups, they were ALL in huge spots (did it a few times on 3rd down including once in the end zone on Nicks, plus he had deflected the ball that Harris caught on the INT). Just an incredible game.
