I am absolutely aghast that Woody was honest enough -- dumb enough ? -- to state that he would have signed Revis if he knew he could get the same deal as the Patriots offered him. Excuse me......isn't that what you have a GM for ??? I have to believe that if that statement is true that it might be the #1 reason that Idzik got fired. If Idzik never bothered to find out, he was derelict in his duties. If he lied to Woody about what Revis wanted, it's a fireable offense. I think this will be getting more analysis from the beat writers the next few days. It's a MAJOR error of ommission and I'm surprised it's not lighting up the board and airwaves more (it will, once the Patriots and Revis likely get to and/or win the SB).
Maybe Woody let Idzik make the final decision on all football moves... even though he wanted Revis, Idzik did not. Or maybe Woody just regrets it after-the-fact.
Is there any evidence that Revis would have signed here for the same deal as NE. Maybe he actually wants to win a Superbowl and knows he wasn't getting one with Rex and the Jets. Someone in another thread mentioned add was spot on seeing Revis being like Deion going from contender to contender at the end of his career.
This has been said about 100 times, and there's even a Revis thread (two actually) created TODAY. Basically, who gives a shit? Made no sense to bring Revis in, so I'm fine with the way it all went down. But back to the main point... who gives a shit?
Why are we rehashing this? 1. I don't believe Revis really wanted to come back here, regardless of what he said. 2. We wouldn't have been much better with him. 3. If we're 6-10 or better, do Rex & Idzik stay? Would that really be a good thing?
I can just see the Jets fan base in 2030. "Let's get Darrelle Revis back, that'll solve everything! He's only 46 after all..."
if he could have been signed here he should have been. One it would have answered the cb issue at least for a bit and two it would have made idzik look smarter then he actually was. I traded the guy for picks and with 1 pick I grabbed the defensive rookie of the yr and the next yr I signed him to a deal I offered him the beginning......I know that s giving idzik way to much credit to even think that. But maybe if he did he would not be out of work right now
Yeah, Revis and his agents said they would. Maybe, but that wasn't his #1 concern. He wanted money and Rex. That was me !! LOL
Maybe we get a couple of wins earely and that changes everything. How many games did we win at the end or in OT in 2010 ? If those are losses, we are 6-10. Instead, we went 11-5. Instead of being 1-7 at the mid-point, would 4-4 have been a spur to a playoff game ? I think maybe so.
idk Like I said, if we're 6-10 or better, do Rex & Idzik come back? If they do, is that a good thing?
Y'all know how I feel about Revis & Woody so for him to act like that and say that shit is a slap in the face... They didn't field Revis' agents calls!! How unprofessional is that? U think Woody didn't tell Idzik "Don't Bother" ? The man who on Hard Knocks was right there during the negotiations.. Yea, ok. No way a New GM who has ZERO ties to the previous debacle doesn't at LEAST field the call...
