Interesting stuff, I wish they had the PD's in there too. Also the on target passes- Great article though
Deion got way too much credit for SF '94, they won b/c of the Jimmy Johnson-Jerry Jones split and no other reason.
If Revis was a Lion it'd be interesting. Giving up 494 points at a average of 30.9 a game would not be interesting to me either.
Wait, what? This article doesn't even tell me if Deion was covering those guys when they made those catches. Isn't that what you'd want to compare? Times thrown against, comp % when thrown against, PDs, etc. This is just looking at numbers with no basis.
If Deion wasn't in single coverage against the opposing team's #1 receiver at all times, wouldn't that make the accomplishment of Revis even MORE impressive this season? That's exactly what the Jets have asked him to do.
Both right, but it's a point that isn't defined in the article. Was Deion covering those guys? Was he expecting help over the top and another defender blew the coverage? You don't get that just from posting those numbers.
So, you're saying Deion may have won the award despite relying on safety help or being asked to man up on a team's 2nd best receiver? Wow, Revis just looks better and better.
On this one I don't(as far as deion, there's no doubt the JJ-JJ thing killed Dallas that year) but i'm sure you don't either unless you have access to the coaches film and the SF defensive schemes.
Yeah, it's completely unheard of for a team to start with one defensive game plan, say Sanders on Anthony Miller, and then switch because another guy is hurting them, say Shannon Sharpe. Or vice versa. And when I see Revis got help over the top like say on 85 this past weekend, can I say he relied on safety help too? I haven't even mentioned the fact that the article uses playoff stats in a comparison for a regular season award.
i'm convinced sanders doesn't want revis to win it because no CB has won it since sanders did in '94 edit: I'm retarded
Well, Shannon Sharpe had 7 catches for 74 yards. So, pick one. Either way he had a worse day than any of Revis's. I do agree with you on the postseason issue, though. I remember that 12 catch, 192 yard 2 TD performance Irvin had on him, and it was brutal. Aside from a late pick, Sanders did nothing all day.
Look at Irvins numbers against Deon, vs...Moss against Revis. Plus Consider how much the rules have changed IN FAVOR of wideouts since then...
