    Check this out:

Recent history has proven that consistently Coordinators that are promoted fail not too long after:

2009 Rams - Steve Spagnulo (Fired in 2011)
2009 Broncos - Josh McDaniels (Fired in 2010)
2009 Bucs - Raheem Morris (Fired in 2011)
2009 Chiefs - Todd Haley (Fired in 2011)
2009 Jets - Rex Ryan (Fired in 2014)
2009 Lions - Jim Schwartz (Fired in 2013)
2009 Colts - Jim Caldwell (Fired in 2011)
2012 Raiders - Dennis Allen (Fired in 2014)

The only two that are still coaches are Ron Rivera and Mike McCoy.

As of late, recycled Head Coaches are performing very well:

Pete Carroll and John Fox, both retread Head Coaches, playing each other in a Super Bowl.

Tom Coughlin won another Super Bowl in 2011.

Andy Reid has brought Kansas City back.

Jim Caldwell did very well bringing his Lions one drive away from their first playoff win in a long long time.

This isn't about history over many years. This is about recent history. This is pretty telling.

So you want us to hire Kubiak. F off. Bruce Arians sure is sucking it up right now. Right? Mike McCarthy and Sean Payton sure do suck. Right? All HC were coordinators or assistants at one point. This has got to your dumbest thread yet and that's saying a lot because you've written some stuff so foul that it couldn't even be mistaken for shit in a sewer. My grandma with Parkinson's made a better case when she told me about the time she was in medieval Europe during Black Plague. The only thing that's telling about this is that your so clueless about football you probably think a quarterback is a refund.

No, that last bit was me. Not sure why it didn't post. Still trying to figure this new update out. Been having trouble with the quote feature also. Seems to not show up all the time. I've been in contact with a mod about it.

    I think you're confusing Parkinson's with Alzheimers's.

... That's all I have to contribute to this conversation.

To be fair, virtually every head coach in the league was once promoted from an OC or DC position. I would prefer a retread over an up-and-comer as well, but ultimately the Jets should hire whoever can work well with our new GM and whoever is most likely to bring success to this organization. If that person is a retread, so be it; if not, that's okay too. I think either can be the right guy; even a college coach could be the right guy. That's why our coaching search is very broad at the moment.

Thank you. It's a dumb argument. We all want the guy who gives us the best chance to win now.

    Kotite was a retread...

Or are you suggesting we pick a guy from that list? They're all retreads now.

All good HC were once coordinators. So... There goes that theory.

    Moving on.

Kubiak is the best of both worlds.

He was a head coach and we would be promoting him from OC of the Ravens.

    What is not to like?

Do you know something else that all these teams have in common? Inconsistent quarterback play. That's the bigger issue.

What's the over/under on Falco's next thread calling for Bill Callahan as the next HC?

there aren't any Andy Reid's out there. There aren't any Bill Parcells' out there, if there were that's who I'd want. we have failed formed HC's so I'd rather go assistant route which has worked out pretty well for us in the last decade plus.

I think you can find plenty of examples of retread head coaches that have succeeded and failed and also plenty of coordinators that have succeeded and failed. To this point specifically, through one year into their second chances, Ken Whisenhunt and Lovie Smith's teams are picking #1 and #2 (their first years into their second stints, but noteworthy nonetheless). A retread offers the benefit of having some league experience and hopefully being wiser the second time around, but it doesn't necessarily translate into success.

At this point, it's really so difficult to foresee which coaches would work out well and which wouldn't. I think it's best to stay relatively to open to what happens one way or another. I'm not gonna jump for joy or cry with a retread like Gary Kubiak or a coordinator like Dan Quinn or Todd Bowles.

This be the nail that was hit on the head! It all comes down to QB. If you have a good one...you win. If you do not you don't. This is about 90% accurate. There are exceptions but this is the rule. Good/Great QB means lots of wins. Average to shit QB...losses are on the horizon.
