It's just keeps getting crazier and crazier...must be time for the draft or something. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/Home_NFL.aspx Per rotoworld: NFL Network's Steve Wyche reports that there is "chatter" the Jets would try to swing a trade for Jason Campbell on draft day if the Redskins move up to draft Matthew Stafford. This is pretty much setting the stage for a potential three-team swap. The Skins are already short on picks and would likely have to dip into their 2010 draft class to move up the board. It could potentially also mean throwing Sanchez into the fire, which sounds foolish after only 16 college starts. ***(I think they mean Mark Sanchez, not Matt Stafford)
at least we know this kid knows how to learn a playbook...this would be his 3rd or 4th in a row if he was traded here.
I'm torn on this. I like Campbell but he'll have to learn yet another system. I think I'd rather us stick with Clemens or Ratliff
Jason Campbell is a smart fucking quarterback. He rarely turns the ball over - something that our new head coach wants from his offense. Dan Snyder wants a gunslinger that's going to throw 25 to 30 TDs, while Rex Ryan wants an efficient passer that will set up good field position for his defense. Campbell could be a perfect fit for this team...
Another friggin disgraceful rumor... Campbell is not that good and to me not a huge improvement over Clemens.
I don't necessarily know if Rex Ryan wants a "franchise" QB - I think he just wants to win with defense and a dominant running attack. Ryan might want a Trent Dilfer-type quarterback - not flashy, but efficient.
yeah....I agree with you...in regards to Campbell being perfect for what Rex wants in a QB. He's proven to be an excellent game manager with a decent arm. I think he could be successful here under Cavanaugh's guidance. Campbell's problem is that he's got to get past his confidence issues.......This is fixable, IMO. I would be okay if this trade happened.
I don't know much about Campbell, haven't really watched him at the pro level or the collegiate level. How are his arm strength, accuracy, decision making, etc? He has good size at 6'5" 230 and seems to be a decent athlete (he has a 5.1 ypc average which i guess means if he gets flushed out of the pocket he does a decent job of getting something out of nothing)
If you're trading a first round pick for a QB you should be looking for a franchise QB in that guy. Don't you think?
The report doesn't say anything about the Jets giving up a first rounder for Jason Campbell...it just says if the Skins trade up for a quarterback, the Jets may try to get Campbell from them.
the nfl could fill an entire second league with quarterbacks supposedly targeted by the jets this offseason.
