So he didn't just rat him out...he warned him, told him not to do it, that other Jets employees AND the league were watching....and the guy STILL tried to get away with it: "In the popular retelling of Spygate, Jets coach Eric Mangini, a former Belichick assistant, ratted out his ex-boss. In reality, Mangini called Belichick before their September 2007 game to warn him not to film New York’s signals. And by that point the league was already eyeing the Patriots." http://www.si.com/nfl/2015/09/08/patriots-cheating-suspicions-bill-belichick-tom-brady Belichick is a scumbag. He has a pathological hatred of the Jets and all because we wanted to make him our HC as per the terms of his contract, a lucrative contract he was given when he wouldn't get another job in the league after his Cleveland debacle.
This comes across as sour grapes. Parcells left New England and took all of his assistants AND half the players with him going to New York, and the deal was made when he was already in the Super Bowl which they lost. Consider the favor returned.
No....as Will McDonough detailed, Kraft reneged on the agreements Parcells had worked out with the previous owner (the groceries quote) and left of his own accord. The Jets had nothing to do with it.
the best quote from ESPN: Then there was the videotaping. Mangini knew the Patriots did it, so he would have three Jets coaches signal in plays: One coach's signal would alert the players to which coach was actually signaling in the play. Still, Mangini saw it as a sign of disrespect that Belichick taped their signals -- "He's pissing in my face," he told a confidant -- and wanted it to end. Before the 2007 opener, sources say, he warned various Patriots staffers, "We know you do this. Don't do it in our house." Tannenbaum, who declined comment, told team security to remove any unauthorized cameramen on the field. During the first half, Jets security monitored Estrella, who held a camera and wore a polo shirt with a taped-over Patriots logo under a red media vest that said: NFL PHOTOGRAPHER 138. With the backing of Jets owner Woody Johnson and Tannenbaum, Jets security alerted NFL security, a step Mangini acknowledged publicly later that he never wanted. Shortly before halftime, security encircled and then confronted Estrella. He said he was with "Kraft Productions." They took him into a small room off the stadium's tunnel, confiscated his camera and tape, and made him wait. He was sweating. Someone gave Estrella water, and he was shaking so severely that he spilled it. "He was s---ting a brick," a source says. On Monday morning, Estrella's camera and the spy tape were at NFL headquarters on Park Avenue. glad mangini ratted out Bill, because without it, who knows how much more and titles they'd come by illegally
It changes the story 180-degrees. Mangini didn't rat him out. He warned him that the Jets and NFL were onto him and he couldn't protect him if he was stupid enough to do it again at the Meadowlands. And he did. What a brazen, arrogant SOB. Like Kraft said, Belichick is schmuck.
the league warned all teams not to do it (and that warning was clearly directed towards the Pats).. AND mangini specifically warned belichick not to do it against the Jets, that he would be watching for it.. yet, they did it anyway.... they were also warned in 2004 to stop fucking with the footballs after a Jets game. yet deflategate. warnings will never matter to the Pats, as they think they are above rules. only punishment speaks to that level of arrogance. just about everything in the ESPN report i already knew. it's still good though that the rest of the country gets educated or reminded as to what has actually happened in Belichick/Br*dys run with the Patriots.
Can we just change the team name on this site to the Shmucks? who would i need to message to get this change permanently?
Yeah, except what coach takes a job with another fucking team the week before the Super Bowl? Say whatever you want, I remember it well. And in the same breath with "I want five wides!" from Bill Parcells with less than a minute left the announcers were discussing where he was going to coach next. It was a done deal that should have taken place after the super bowl. But hey who cared back then, it was just the lowly patriots after all.
You have no idea what you are talking about. Coach's are 100% free to interview and sign with other teams as soon as the regular season ends. lately coaches have been choosing not to interview until eliminated but it is allowed.
Dude, come on. Put this in the correct perspective. Nobody should be going to the super bowl with a coach heading out the door. That's just ridiculous I don't care what the codified rules are.
I'm not saying they should, i completely agree they should be focused on the season at hand, but the rules as they stand say it's fine. Let's look at another Pats Super Bowl appearance when Buddy Ryan informed his defense the Saturday night before the game he was going to Philly. It happens and it's allowed doesn't matter that it shouldn't be that way.
Let me guess some pats troll is trying to justify cheating by the big tuna leaving the Pats for the Jets..... I started blocking them because they are spreading stupid across the internet
I think we're in agreement. Honestly being a Patriots fan is bizarre. Imagine being a Montreal Expos fan. Like one of the only ones, then all of a sudden they're the Yankees. That's pretty much what happened and it's weird.
Assuming you have been a fan from way back i can see how bizarro world this would be. I am actually really scared right now with the Jays. We were middle of the pack to bottom feeders for so long and now suddenly everyone is a fan and every lose is a HUGE deal and one bad night is a reason to cut a guy. The idiocy of the bandwagon looms like a storm cloud.
Basically if Sheldon Richardson (who pleaded not guilty in court) gets a year from the NFL I would have no complaints. And wouldn't blindly support him the way you and other NEP fans have been doing. The way things are now James Harrison after the Brady court decision is thinking of taking the league to court over his fines and suspensions. You know for dirty play and cheap shots. And I'm sure that if Sheldon gets a bigger penalty (he has the 4 games already) he could also take this to court. So what your guy has done is instead of being a positive leader (for the league he says he loves) he's instead for challenging the league whenever there is discipline against a player. As he was advised to do by another jerkoff, Jonathan Vilma.
I never heard the Mangini was not a rat story before. I just thought he turned in NEP because as he learned from Belichick they were now the enemy and it was his job to hit them in any way he could. So then why was Belichick so pissed off at Eric that he basically disowned him. If Eric actually warned him. Hard to understand if true.
