Does anyone remember the draft where multiple QB needy teams passed on a polarizing QB and the only team who was interested was the same team who graded Trubisky better than Mahomes and Watson?
A few things to keep in mind: The HC of that team wasn't in Chicago when they took Trubisky. The HC of that team was the Chiefs OC the year KC took Mahomes.
If you are not saying that, then what’s your point about “Should I also keep in mind GMs draft, not coaches?”.
The original poster implied that the OC had a say in drafting Mahomes... this was a team with Vet GM John Dorsey, highly regarded HC Andy Reid, longtime exec Ryan Clark, future GM and Co-Director of player personnel Brett Veach... but the OC was the one who beat the table for Mahomes? lol. Ok.... how many games was Nagy the OC for Mahomes? The poster also implied the HC of the 2017 Bears pushed for Trubisky but that’s not accurate. https://www.google.com/amp/s/sports...b-in-draft-over-mitch-trubisky-210559099.html
But Congrats to Ryan Pace for keeping his job another 2 years and extra congrats to the Giants for getting an extra top 10 pick next year and super congrats to Bears fan everywhere for getting in a prime position to pick another QB in 2023.
Maybe.... but If the Bears GM didn’t listen to the last coach, why would he listen to the current one? Nagy did a great job being the OC for Smith who’s probably more similar to Jones than to Fields so I have my doubts.
Are you saying that the same team that busted on Trubisky now took Fields, so that means Fields is a likely bust? You have to remember at the time Trubisky was touted as the next Zack Wilson.
I am. Shitty talent evaluators don’t suddenly become talented. Fields seem like a Mac pick. I hadn’t heard, but if Trubisky was being compared to Wilson 4 years ago, I’d point out Wilson was in HS 4 years ago and it shoulda been a huge red flag being compared to a HS QB.
I just checked and you’re not too far off. Trubisky’s QBR in his last year was the same as Wilson’s In his first year.
