Our remaining opponents have all played 55 games and their combined record is 23-32. We need to keep our noses to the grindstone and take care of business, one week at a time.
Good advise for the team, but as fans we can look as far a head as we feel. While they combine for 23-32, we actually play 3 teams that curently have winning records in the Bills, Phins, and Denver. This is by no menas an easy run to the divison title.
Good point. The other factor that concerns me is the two travel games interspersed. They should be "easier" games, but it's not an easy commute.
I don't want to look ahead and we shouldn't. These types of seasons don't come along often, let's just enjoy every second of it.
Trust me, I'm enjoying every moment of it. I just don't mind looking at the upcomming schedule at all. We've got a lot of big games left, including to divisional opponents to go. its going to be a great ride to the end of this thing.
Unfortunately I expect them to drop 1 west coast game...... I just hope they beat Buffalo, Miami and Denver
It's always tough to win on the road, especially cross country. But have you seen the Seahawks or 49ers this season? Both teams are beyond bad.
Exactly. Just beat Denver first. I'm hoping the crowd at the Stadium gets really into the game and isn't looking ahead. We're playing a 1st place team on Sunday and we need to keep winning.
Here's some more stats on the remaining 5 teams... PF and PA. I did a little tweaking with my own math on these numbers: Team PF PA Denver 258 302 San Frn 252 310 Buffalo 273 249 Seattle 207 277 Dolphins 237 245 Totals 1227 1383 So, after 11 games: The combined teams averaged 245 PF and 277 PA. which is an average of 22.30 PF and 25.14 PA per game. By comparison, the Jets have 323 PF and 234 PA, which is an average of 29.36 PF and 21.27 PA per game. Not surprisingly, our PA number is below the average number of points scored by the teams, but it's close. Our PF number far exceeds their PA number, however, by 46 points, which averages 4.18 more points per game. The numbers that jump oput at me are the Buffalo numbers. They're the only ones with the PF being better than their PA.
Oakland is the most notable letdown because it was a loss. But the KC game irritated the hell out of me too, even though we found a way to win, because we let their sorry asses hang around unnecessarily. But thank God, I think we've finally got some of the "chemistry" Favre was talking about early on. Everybody looks like they're on the same page now and has a feel for the other guys and what they're going to do, etc. I think that goes a long way toward avoiding the trap game because everybody knows what the other guy is capable of and nobody wants to be a slacker in the eyes of his other teamates. This has appeared to come together at just the right moment for us (knock on wood).
I'm thinking the opposite. If we drop one game it'll probably be to either Buffalo or Miami. Either one of them can play us a lot tougher than those 2 West Coast teams.
Good point. I think it irritated the players too. I remember Jenkins making some comments after the game about how they weren't satisfied with how they played, despite the win. That was an early indication that this team was beginning to focus in. They have played a lot better since then.
Totally agree. The KC game and the Oakland game really got people motivated. Maybe those games were what we needed after all.
