Geno did not have a great game, and made a few extremely costly decisions (including a few more that we luckily got away with) but every time the defense got him the ball back, he proceeded to drive back down the field, until we reached the red zone.

MM calls a great game between the twenties, but he looks lost as soon as we get into the RZ. We try these cute plays that never work, and results in instant groans from Jets fans. The play call is extremely frustrating, but what is there to do?

The fact of the matter is, especially with Decker hurt, our most talented WR is 5'9. Not a very big RZ threat. Our TEs aren't RZ threats. Quite simply, we don't have any RZ threats on our offense.

I believe the year we went 8-8 with Sanchez, while our offense as a whole sputtered, we had the #1 RZ TD% in the league. That was the year we had Plax, who was a fantastic RZ target, along with guys like LT, and for all the flack he got, Keller, who was a reliable albeit not explosive receiving threat.

We just have nobody to be a consistent RZ threat. We better figure out how to punch the ball into the end zone, because no matter how many times we can drive the ball deep into enemy territory, it's hard to win football games when you're kicking 4-5 sub-35 yard field goals a game.

Decker looked great in the red zone last season.

Obviously we lack talent on offense. We have a bottom 5 offense when it comes to skill position players. maybe the worst group if decker isnt in. That said, you can still maximize what you have. and running a Geno shotgun keeper up the guy on 3rd and goal from the 3 or 4 yardline is not maximizing what you have.

Also, when you dont have playmakers, that is even more reason to make sure you secure the football and at least come away with points. Geno isn't without fault, but it is clear our staff simply does not preach ball protection.

That was the most infuriating play call I've seen in a long time, and that's really saying something. That was the same drive Ivory single-handedly dominated the Bears defense and literally carried the offense on his back all the way to within the five, and then they try to run a delay QB power draw against a stacked box? Ridiculous.

I know we can't completely trust him yet, but isn't this what Amaro is for?

    Terrible play call.

We have small receivers as well, doesn't help our red zone cause.

I'd love to think that if he was ready, he'd be used extensively in there, but with our coaching staff I'm not so sure.

To be fair though, just based on what we see as fans, he does not look ready, so unless he shows a LOT more at practice, I'd agree with the coaching staff on this one.

too many drops. you cant use guys with shaky hands in the redzone, too critical... especially for a player who isnt a great run blocker

Red zone offense is terrible every year as far back as I can remember, except for 2011.

The Eagles were pretty bad in the red zone when Mornhinweg was there, so this isn't surprising

Pound the ball with ivory. Jesus Christ it's insane. He was torching them all drive and we run a QB draw?! C'mon!
