i like the vmart deal, masterson couldn't get lefties, and although hagadone had some promise, you had to throw him in. i liked laroche, but tough to gauge this trade.
Yeah I liked Laroche too. Once they added Vmart's bat they probably felt that defense was a bigger need. Kotchman will be great for defense late in the game, although I sort of feel like defense at short is a bigger need at this point. Love the Vmart deal. It adds another bat to a struggling lineup, and allows both Lowell and Tek to get some rest all while keeping the farm intact. I loved what Masterson did in the playoffs last year and he could still be a lights out set-up guy but that's much less likely now that it was a year ago in my eyes. Again, he's basically a right handed specialist at best right now. Hagadone was coming off TJ but he has huge potential and come 2011 Sox fans might be complaining he was the one that got away....oh well.
what to do with kottaras now? he's seeing the ball well lately, almost rather carry him instead of tek.
He's still got options, so he might be sent down. Somebody still needs to catch Wake whenever he is healthy again. I haven't heard anything about Vmart being able to catch a knuckleballer either. With Masterson gone there should be room left on the roster for now. edit: Actually, no, he doesn't have any options left. Either DFA him or keep him. Maybe try and get something for him in a waiver deal.
Jumping two levels? Damn. Probably just for tonight's game while people are traveling. I'd be excited to see him play though. His defense and bat are both supposed to be very good with patience his only real weakness. 15 minutes before gametime and no gamethread? Pathetic.
