Okay the Jets have played three games and have a records of 2-1. What I want to know from everyone is what did you think the Jets record at this point would be. Overall I had the Jets going 8-8 or 9-7 (if and only if everyone stays health). I know that some people thought this was insane but with the terrible second half of the schedule I really thought it was possible and I still do. In fact I thought the Jets would only be 1-2 at this point. Anyways please vote and tell me what you thought the Jets record would be at this point. Please include a post to support your reasoning as well. P.S. What do you think the Jets overall record will be? What did you orginally think the Jets overall record would be?
Don't look now, but The Pats are lookin like they will lose tonight..... yeah, they beat us, so they have the tie breaker, but who woulda thunk we could be tied with the Pattsies after week 3?
I figured the first quarter of the schedule would be the hard part with New England and Indy at home and 2 road games. I was looking at a win at Tennessee with a bit of luck and then a couple of losses. 2 wins right now augurs really well for what's coming up down the road.
I expected the Jets to be 3-0 after 3 weeks, I thought that we would've beaten the Pats. I expect the overall record to be 13-3, which was also my original prediction before the year started. I'm not gonna change it to 12-4 just because the pats beat us, because one of my predicted losses was against the fins on Dec 25, which I am now expecting us to win. So I still believe 13-3.
The next two weeks will be tough but then comes three games which will shape the season (Miami, Detroit, at Cleveland). If the Jets get to 5-3 at the bye who knows what could happen....
I like your optimism but remember at 2-1 the Jets still have Indy, at Jax, at NE, Chi, at Minny. If the Jets come out of those 5 games with only 2 losses......
I thought 2-1. Before the season start, i thought the games vs. the Bills and Titans were winnable. As u know the Bills had a terrible offseason (# of FO moves and bad draft picks) and like us, the Titans are rebuilding. If the Deion Branch deal went down b4 the start of the regular season, i would've been inclined to say 3-0. We saw last week (and tonight if you're watching the game vs. Den) how much they need him. I believe others can agree w/ me when i say the main thing i want to see with this team is progress. Week to week i want to see them get better and improve a flaw. Erasing the identity of a Herman Edwards team and creating the identity of Mangini's team. And through 3 weeks they are creating a identity of a team thats tough and has tremendous heart. As the weeks go by, we're adding more and more attributes. Thats what i'm proud of.
By the way, I thought we'd either be 1-2 or 0-3. I thought we'd end the season 6-10 or 7-9. Right now I think 9-7 looks pretty realistic.
I obviously hoped for 3-0, and thought it was possible (to beat NE). But realisticly gotta go with 2-1, and that's where we stand as of now. It's too bad we didn't come all the way back to win it against NE. But we got wins against Tenn. and Buff. Next week we got Indy. I honestly can see us winning that. We shut down Peyton down early on and I don't see why we can't win that game.
Who would we lose to? This prediction has shocked me I thought I was a big optimist guess I have been put to shame here lol.
Before the season started, I marked home to the Colts and Bears as losses, along with @MIA. After seeing the fins play, I'm changing @MIA to a win. And personally, I wouldn't call anything short of a 10 win/playoff season optimistic for a team like the jets. Atleast to me, 8-8 would be a huge disappointment.
The question with this team is: are they good enough to consistently beat the bad teams (cle; det; hou; oak; gb). If they are -- we may be a playoff team. I dont think we can assume that ANY game is a win.
I think we could easily be a playoff team and not be a good team just because we play oppenents who are terrible.
I projected 6-10 before the season started. Buffalo on the road was one of the losses, so now I'm saying 7-9. It's easy to start thinking about an undefeated divisional record the rest of the way and all sorts of marveous stuff like that, but if we win some that I thought we'd lose, I suspect we'll lose some I thought we'd win, too. So I'm going to take it one game at a time and add a win to my projection any time we win one I thought we' lose. Don't want to offend the football gods and jinx the whole thing...
I noticed that a lot (25) of people had the Jets going 2-1 after the first 3. Yet I remember a lot of people saying we wouldn't win more than 4 games. That being said we play the easier teams later in the year. Just seems odd to me thats all.
The one thing I took from the Herm era was his belief in breaking the season into 4 quarters. At the beginning of the year I thought we would be 1 and 3 in the first quarter and the second quarter would be huge for us to have a successful season. I figured going 3 and 1 in hte 2nd quarter would allow us to get to .500 and make it a successful season. With the TEAMS' play so, Chad's health and leadership and a belief that this team can only get better as they better understand the systems thrown at them... I have to up my expectations for the seaosn. So..... Even if we lose this week our record would be 2-2 and if the Jets do go 3 and 1 in the 2nd quarter we would be at 5 and 3 going into the bye. (2nd quarer schedule is the Jags, Dolphins, Lions Browns) There are 5 VERY winnable games in the second half of the season. Texans, Packers, Bills, Oakland, Dolphins...Now if you catch a break and win 1 of the remaining games against the Pats, Vikings and Bears we would be at 11-5. Oh and we get 2 weeks to prepare for the Pats. Our bye is Week 9 when the Pats have to play the Colts. That's the game I'm looking at as the upset and the springboard to the playoffs. I think all is realistic and dependent on 1 factor...Chad's health.
I knew they would be 2-1. Tennessee was awful, and before game 1 even started you knew Collins was going to start so thats an almost automatic win. New England was the team I knew were were going to lose too. I had high hopes that they could beat the Patsies but keeping it real, its a nobrainer. You cant predict a win against NE, you can only be surprised and happy when they win. Buffalo, I went to the game last year in Buffalo, its intense, its loud, its cold, its windy, but I really believed that with Chad being healthy that this was a win
maybe its the kool aid, but, does anyone here think the Jets players, owner coaching staff sit down, look at there schedule and say I think we will be 8-8, 7-9, 4-12 etc? I get the feeling, they go into every game thinking and feeling they will win!!. My point is, I am neither a player, coach or owner, but I like to think that we are going to win every game we play. I thought the jets would be 3-0 at this point, and now I see them going 15-1!!! I know I am crazy, It must be the effects of all the global warming that I am exposed to. I just like to count my eggs positively before they hatch!!
