Not to tarnish anything Twin has done but I was thinking about how we can tweak the nomination/award process. 1. Form a small group of 6-8 posters be on the award committee.Their job will be to decide on who will be the 5/6 posters/threads that get into the vote. 2. Have nominations go year round so certain threads and people will have a look at cause when Jan. comes around, hardly any of us will remember the good stuff that happened in Feb/March. 3. Make people provide evidence for nominations with links, for example why is junc being nominated for most argumentative poster, here's why : http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=17371&page=2 4. Change/Expand the award categories, I might get some flak about this but it is necessary. My recommendations are based on http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=16938: 1. Rookie of the year - keep it 2. Most Friendly Poster - keep 3. Funniest Poster - keep 4. nightowltom Award (Best non-Jets Poster) - keep 5. Most Knowledgeable Poster - keep 6. Thread of the Year - best of the best of the 3 below are in this one 6a. Best BS Thread - The best of BS forum 6b. Best Jets forum Thread - The best of the Jets forum 6c. Best other forum thread - The best of the other forums(NFL/Draft/etc.) 7. Meanest Poster - keep 8. Most Negative Poster - keep 9. Most Annoying Poster - keep 10. Least Intelligent Poster - keep 11. Most Optimistic Poster - keep 12. Best Photoshop Artist - keep 12a Best Photoshop work - Just on the basis of the creation not the poster who did it 13. International Poster of the Year - keep 14. Biggest Troublemaker - keep 15. Most Argumentative Poster - keep 16. Post Whore of the Year - keep 17. Most Creative Poster - keep 18. Ban of the year - Nominate the best perm banning of the year the guy has to be gone for good for it to count 19. Most dull poster - That one poster that just seems to be boring no matter what they do from just posting links or not really adding anything to the threads. 20. Fantasy player of the year - I've been suggesting this for a while but since we do have a forum for it I figured it's time. List of nominees would be short but it should work.(TGG leagues only, we have them for nearly every sport) 21. Best helper - Kind of like most friendly but this poster helps people but linking them to relevant info or posts how to do stuff like computer stuff. 22. Dark Horse poster of the year - Who is the person who does a lot but never gets the recognition they deserve. 23. Overrated poster of the year - Who is that person who thinks they're all that but really isn't(people might be mad but boohoo!) 24. BS'er of the year - is the BS Bowl winner 25. Best non-BS poster - Who is the poster that does the best outside of the BS forum? 5. Award voting by a larger committee(13-21 people) in which they decide the winners(no one who is nominated is not allowed to vote in that category) or have a public viewing of the nominees of the awards before the voting starts.(start the threads but start the voting a day/week later). With private vote you can host an awards show thread to name the winners(one at a time like at the Oscars to allow for reaction, 5 min between awards) 6. A sig/avatar award would be something the winners can use if they want to. A trophy can be the template for the awards if people want it. And those are the suggestions I have for the TGG awards.
