One name...Reggie Bush. How can you guys not want him as much as I do? He's the best running back I've ever seen come out of college. Bold statement
That would be a disater. I wouldn't have a problem trading up for Leinart but that would be a huge mistake trading up for a RB.
I'll pass on him thanx... We would have to give up entirely to much to get him, and for a team in the rebuilding process we don't have the money nor the picks to give away and get him... Thanx for the gumball... Ellis
Agreed. That's crazy talk for a guy who isn't even considered an everydown back. He's going to the texans. Let it ride, I say. Who cares where he ends up, the only direction this team is moving in the draft is DOWN. You heard it here first.
To move up from #4 to #3 would cost us our 3rd, 4th and 5th picks To move up from #4 to #2 would cost us our 2nd and 3rd round picks To move up from #1 to #1 would cost us a ton, probably a #1 in 2007, which would be dumb. Source: http://www.nfldraftblitz.com/pick_value_chart.htm
to pay $45 million to reggie bush to get killed behind our new o-line -- won't do much good in my mind vince young is the only qb that would make sense since he can run away from the rush a bit until the line tightens up, but i am not a big vince young fan.
There was a point a couple of months ago where I was totally enamored with Reggie. He is still good, mind you, but I do not think he is the only good running back in the draft. Given all we are dealing with, trading up would be wasteful. We still need to see how the Abe and Chad situation play out. Those 2 things will have a huge impact on the direction we take. I really like the idea of picking up an extra 1st round pick for Abe, if we can pull that off. I also like the idea of trading down out of the #4 slot and getting an extra 2nd rounder, unless Chad is gone and Cutler or Young are available at #4 - we would have to figure out a way of getting this done. We could get either White or Williams with the other 1st round pick for Abe. We would still have a lot of picks left to get some quality offensive linemen.
I would love to trade up Bush or Leinart, but with the cost of trading up and the amount of holes on this team, its pretty hard IMO to justify it right now. The only way I could probably do it was if you either got a 1st rounder+ for Abraham or the Texans would do #1 for Abraham/#4
That would be an awful trade for the Jets. The Texans would do this so fast it would be funny to see Casserly run a 4.2 40 to the phone. The Jets need to use Abraham as leverage to get 2 players in the 1st round if possible.
I don't want any of the QB's that will be in the first round of this draft. Get a RB, a DE (Abe's replacement), and O-linemen. We have the opportunity to get the franchise RB and rebuild the O-line all in one felt swoop this draft, they should use it, and get the QB next year who will be the most Pro Ready, Brady Quinn, early in day one especially since we'll end up 3-13, maybe 4-12. Then we'll be on the right track. Ellis
I think the right solution would be to draft DE Williams at #4 to replace Abe or trade down and take Lendale White as the new Franchise RB. In the later round the Jets should draft some linemen, to get depth in the O-Line. And I think Reggie Bush doesn't have the weight to be a all-down back, so he is not the right solution for the Jets' problems
If we trade Abe we would at the very least get a second for him. Then with our #4 pick I wouldn't be upset to take DE Williams. Another scenerio that I like is if we trade down or get a first for Abe then I would want Dbrick at 4 and a RB (DeAngelo or Lendale) with the pick we would get for Abe.
I think the QB situation can be addressed in the third or Fourth round with Croyle or Whitehurst. Perhaps we can pry away Kitna from the Bengals.
If you want croyle you have to take him in the 2nd rd. His stock went up pretty high after the senior bowl
