Very quiet day at work today. Decided to revisit the draft. What the hell??.its a website for posting opinions. Played a little bit of devil?s advocate to see what a draft without the Kris Jenkins trade could have looked like. I went by the route of drafting by position, as opposed to best player available. I figured its better doing this now, instead of waiting a couple of years to see how the players work out on other teams. I can already begin to imagine all the insults coming??. 1 (6) Vernon Gholston OLB Ohio St. -- 6-4 260. 2 (36) James Hardy WR Indiana ---- 6?6? 220 ------ picked 41 3 (67) Charles Godfrey CB Iowa ----- 6?0? 207 ------ picked 67 4 (102) Beau Bell ILB UNLV ------- 6?2? 248 ----- picked 105 4 (113) Dre Moore DT University of Maryland --- 6-4 307 ----- picked 115 5 (141) Jason Shirley NT Fresno State ----- 6-5 330 ----- picked 145 6. (171) Donald Thomas OG Connecticut ----- 6?4? 303 ----- picked 195 7. (211) Josh Barrett SS Arizona St. -- 6-2 223 ----- picked 220
I'm happy with the draft we actually had, but I would've been happier with this: 1) Vernon Gholston 2) Devin Thomas (offer a 4th next year to move up ahead of the Redskins) 4a) Trade for Fabian Washington 4b) Trade down, in basically the same deal we did w/GB, but getting their lower pick instead because this pick was lower. 4b) Dre Moore 5) Jonathan Goff 6) Andre Woodson 7) Joshua Barrett
kill me if you want, i hate this fuckin' draft class. i think our selections sucked. gholston may turn out to be a player, but the rest are just shit. kellers good, but we did not need this guy. totally wasted 2 draft picks on a TE, who can't block a dead horse.
"I think our selections sucked." "Gholston may turn out to be good." "The rest are just shit." "Kellers good." "Keller was a total waste." Helluvalot said there...and why don't we need Keller?
gave up 2 draft picks, for a TE who is undersized, can't block, and was'nt a "need" position. does that need further explaining? drafted a QB, who is projected to be nothing more the a possible back up, to KC, in the future.could have picked up one of those on the FA market.instead we leave a HENNE, or a BROHM, who could be potential starters, on the board, with a QB situation that is unsettled, to pick the aformentioned TE. another wasted pick.thats 3 wasted picks.:drunk:
Here's an idea...how about letting them play ONE FUCKING DOWN OF NFL FOOTBALL before saying they all suck. Fucking offseason is just full of retards I swear.
It's a good thing you used a dollar sign instead of an S. Seeing that filthy, filthy word in it's pure form is just too much raw power for my brain to handle.
You're a Jets fan posting on a Jets forum STILL saying that shit about Keller? You're either really dense or really, really dense. Uh huh...so with one big QB contract on the roster...and one second round pick on the roster with 8 games started isn't enough...we needed another high profile QB prospect on the roster for....what?
Watching the draft, I myself wasn’t thrilled when the announcer said the JETS have traded up. I become a squirrel in April & consider draft picks to be acorns to keep, not give away – even if it means moving up. That’s just the way I think. I became even more furious when I learned that we used the pick on a TE. I never considered it to be a need position as EVOJOE mentioned. It was also a little bit of a blow to the ego, because this guy was never ever on my radar in any of my mocks. That being said, the more I read about Keller my attitude is changing. Several reasons; a) the kid really stood out at the combine w/speed, agility & strength numbers. b) Baker was starting to complain about his contract. c) we need additional offensive weapons to start stretching the field. Granted ----- his blocking skills have been ripped to shreds, but its very difficult to find a complete package TE. For the most part if you have a great great blocking TE, you also end up w/stone hands Anthony Becht or Kyle Brady. IMO, I would have liked to get a WR, but at the same time --- Coles & Cotchery are already our full time starters. So even if we draft a WR at the 2nd round, he is our 3rd WR (even if it is temporary). Very contradictory when you consider my Monday morning QB draft has a WR being taken in the 2nd round, but its also because I don’t think Keller would have been there when our 2nd round pick had come up. We went out & got new OL to establish a running game & get Clemens some protection. We also needed to get him an additional playmaker in the passing game in order to find out if Clemens is the answer at QB. IMO, there is NO way we can judge K. Clemens from last year. He was tossed into the fire w/the likes of Clarke & Clement protecting him with no strong running game to speak of & nothing besides Coles & Cotchery to write home about. That being said, I really like my After the Draft picks.
Go see some film and read some articles about Keller. At first i didn?t like the pick, because i simply didn?t know much abou Keller exept the same shit you know about him. But i decided to get MY OWN OPINION about him. After that, i loved that pick. Did you do that, or do you just belive the shit other people say?
I'm just going to throw out to people knocking Keller that Kellen Winslow Jr. and Antonio Gates suck ass at blocking.
If it was possible for people to fuck themselves, you would never have been born so keep that in mind.
pennington is done after this year. thats just common sense. if clemens is'nt the answer, would'nt you rather have drafted a QB, with starting potential? one who could be groomed to take over, if indeed, clemens does not prove to be a starting caliber QB? in that case, given the fact that clemens does not make much $, he can be the back up, and a HENNE, OR BROHM, again with a low$ amount on the cap, could possibly be the future. hows that sound, einstein? who's dense now? some of you people really make me laugh. just because we're jets fans, that means we can't say anything bad about our team, or players? thats the biggest piece of bullshit. this is america, so i can say whatever the fuck i want.
There are plenty of low round picks that do succeed in the NFL though, and plenty of high picks who fail. There's no guarantee that Henne or Brohm will be superstars. Don't count out players just based on their draft position. If lower round players can't succeed then why not just stop the draft after the first or second round?
