saw this on another site : " Jets RB Kevan Barlow has requested and been granted his release after refusing to take a paycut, a person close to the running back told The Star-Ledger last night. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the club has yet to make an announcement. That announcement could come today. Barlow, who was to earn a $2.75 million in base salary in 2007, had an injury-slowed season with the Jets after being acquired from the 49ers last August for a fourth-round pick. He finished with 370 yards rushing and six touchdowns on 131 carries, just a 2.8-yard average. " ~ ~ ANYONE HEAR 'BOUT THIS ? ? ?
No pay cut. Shows what a good acting job he did last year, pretending to be team-first. I like him though, hope he catches on somewhere as a special-teamer.
Barlow has had a career of not living up to expectations. We're better off, frankly. Also, for future reference, please don't post little videos in your post, some of have slower dial up connections so the inclusion of said video made this page take 3 minutes to load
Hated that trade from the get go. Easily the worst move of the Mangini/ Tannenbaum era. I'll be glad to see him go.
ok , here's a link : > http://www.nj.com/jets/ledger/index.ssf?/base/sports-0/1172037903174810.xml&coll=1&thispage=1
he had one great game...that led us to a win and got us to 10-6 and we made the playoffs at 10-6. it was a bad trade, but at least we played well in ONE game and didn't suck in all.
I wish we had that draft pick back. Smith and Washington made way more of an impact on this team then Barlow did.
I thought it was a fourth-rounder. Not a great trade, granted, but it's essentially a fifth-round pick based on where the Jets are drafting in '07.
What a dumb ass. He wont get more then the league min from another team. It would have been better taken the paycut and staying. If I am cedric houston I am very happy today.
Here is the blurp in the S/Ledger http://www.nj.com/jets/ledger/index.ssf?/base/sports-0/1172037903174810.xml&coll=1
While he did help us in that win against the Pats, one game does not a career make. I do not think he will be missed.
he may find it difficult signing with another team if he continues to look for more $'s than his performance warrants.we may end up resigning him later at a lower price.you never know.good find kelly.
