Either you're really smart and this is the best smokescreen ever or you just gave me and everyone else in our league your entire draft strategy. All I'll say is that you should study the ADP charts. It'll help you avoid overdrafting players.

I can tell you did the mock draft on Yahoo. I did one on there and was able to draft Jahvid Best in the 9th round. Yahoo's rankings are embarrassingly bad. Most other places he'll go in the 4th.

yeah it was yahoo. I know I reached on Greene and maybe Ryan but everyone else is pretty much where they should be. It's only reaching if you're wrong anyway.

I'll put my draft strategy right here... not exact but close enough

    1. rb
    2. rb
    3. wr
    4. qb
    5. wr
    6. rb
    7. rb
    8. wr
    9. wr
    10. te
    11. qb
    12. rb
    13. wr
    14. k
    15. te

as far as ADP charts and all that shit, I've got 15 pages of excel sheets and highlighted boards that I marked up last week at work. This mock draft was just bullshit to see where players are going. I take the rankings and charts with a grain of salt though. The internet hacks that make em are stupid and rarely get shit right.

just look at the top 20 from last year vs this year. As a matter of fact look at the top 20 from 2008 and 2009 too. Only 50% of it is consistent.

That's why I don't use any of the fantasy football 'experts' rankings and I don't listen to any of the talking heads on television. I use ADP because it gives me an idea of how other fantasy football 'players' think. This enables me to get a bead on where the steals are to be had and when the position runs happen. I pretty much know where every player gets drafted and when the right time to address a position is. In this game, preparation is key.

I draft with my friends so it's very unorthodox. Most of them are really inexperienced so ADP and all that stuff goes out the window. It it's a random online TGG league those things hold much more value.

Let me give you a couple examples of what happened last year in our league:

New York Jets defense was picked 7th overall in the first round
Arian Foster was a waiver wire pickup
Most of the Jets and Giants team was picked by the 8th round since thats who everyone is a fan of

These guys aren't football geniuses and FF gurus so the picks are all over the place and throws you off your game. I had to take Schaub in the 3rd round last year because he was teh best QB available at that point. May have to do the same with Ryan this year

Adapting to your environment and varying your strategy based on the decisions of those around you is as much a part of fantasy football as preparation. I'll give you that.

I hate the mock Yahoo drafts, tons of fucking around by people makes you make some weird picks. Here's what I had earlier.

    1. Michael Vick (QB-Eagles)
    2. Steven Jackson (RB-Rams)
    3. Knowshon Moreno (RB-Broncos)
    4. Stevie Johnson (WR-Bills)
    5. Kenny Britt (WR-Titans)
    6. Jahvid Best (RB-Lions)
    7. Rob Gronkowski (TE-Patriots)
    8. BenJarvus Green-Ellis (RB-Patriots)
    9. Lance Moore (WR-Saints)
    10. Plaxico Burress (WR-Jets)
    11. Danny Woodhead (RB/WR-Patriots)
    12. Atlanta D/ST
    13. Derrick Mason (WR-Jets)
    14. Cam Newton (QB-Panthers)
    15. Connor Barth (K-Buccaneers)

Most TE's were gone by Round 5, and almost all receivers were gone after 9.

    Odd stuff, Shitty draft.

Ssssshhhh, that site has been a useful "secret weapon" for me!

I actually have my initial draft for a keeper league tomorrow night, and if I can get Best past the 6th I'll be stoked. A lot of people were burned by him and his bum toe last year (raises hand), but he's an awesome lottery ticket-type pick, imo.

    Heads up for all:
LeShoure of the Lions tore his Achilles and is done. He was the main competition for Best as far as stealing red zone/TD carries.

Move Best way up draft boards, esp. in PPR.

I really like Williams in the 8th and Spiller in the 10th. Those kind of swing-for-fences late picks can win a league.

One more for good measure --12 person picking 1st in snake-- Autopicked after Greene. I'm killing these mocks now. Getting the hang of where players are going on different fantasy sites, NFL.com's board seems favorable to my strategy. I just have to hope my dumbass friends don't throw a wrench in the plan by picking players in weird spots.
