I have no faith in this guy at all. He pitched like crap tonight, thats 3 shaky starts in a row. All year hes been up and down. He looks great for a stretch, then he pitches like garbage. Thats mediocrity. Thats all this guy is now is a mediocore pitcher. His only playoff start last year, game 3, he was horrible. Mussina and Wang are gonna have to carry the Yankees in the playoffs.

The Devil Rays seem to own him big time.

With our lineup Johnson can allow 6 runs and the Yankees still win by 6.

Yanks probably will have to score 6 everytime he pitches.

I'd welcome you, but than the Mets would not be in the post-season.

He's gutless and my opinion has never changed of Randy.

He shows no heart or fire anymore...Screw him. Next year is his last year as a Yankee. Hopefully he can do something this post-season, and if it's against Oakland's anemic lineup, then maybe...But I think he'll flop when it counts.

    He's garbage.

Even though he hasnt pitched well I still have faith in this guy. Hes a postseason pitcher. Last year he didnt get enough rest coming into the postseason also he was the big reason why we won the division last year. Many players had years where they didnt get it done in the regular season but turned it on in the postseason.

And so do the red sox. And the Orioles. And the Angels. And the White Sox. And the Royals. And the Athletics. And the Mariners. And the Twins. You get the picture.

There's no reason to believe that Chien-Ming Wang won't be fantastic in the playoffs this year just as he's been fantastic all season. After him the Yankees need Mike Mussina to be their horse again or our lineup won't mean **** to us.

Gotcha, I haven't slept in a while. You'll forgive my diminished reading skills.

I personally like our chances any time we have Wang on the hill, because when he throws his sinker well he's pretty much unhittable. There are 2 things that worry me with him though, and they are this:

    1) With Wang, when it rains, it pours. He seems to struggle to pitch out of big jams, probably because he doesn't get a ton of strikeouts and he becomes hesitant to throw the sinker in the dirt with runners on.

    2) A groundball pitcher with either Gary Sheffield or Jason Giambi at first will have me on the edge of my seat all postseason.

Still, he's been remarkably consistent this year and at Yankee Stadium he's been pretty much perfect. We certainly have a better chance with him on the hill than Johnson or Wright.

RJ stinks, everyone knows it. Sadly, it looks like he'll start Game 2, since Torre blows his load every time he thinks of Mussina pitching Game 3, even though it's stupid to have RJ pitch first... but then again, it's Torre we're talking about.

I'll take your word for it, I haven't really seen him pitch this year. He's certainly had a good year but from his numbers he doesn't look like the type of pitcher that would inspire confidence when he's on the hill.

I also thought you were saying he was the ace with Mussina behind him which upon a re-read probably wasn't the case.

If Randy starts game 1, both he and Torre should be shot.

Certainly Johnson shouldn't start in game 1 but I'd rather have Mussina in Game 3 on the road than Johnson. At least Moose has a chance of winning a game in a tough environment like the Metrodome--I'm 99.9% certain that Johnson would self destruct.

There's just as good a chance that Johnson will self destruct in Yankee Stadium. It would only seem to make sense that your two best pitchers go in the first two games. Especially when there is such a dropoff in talent between Mussina and Johnson.
