I think Brian Shottenhiemer can do something good for this kid and wouldn't mind seeing him in Green!
well if that isnt proof we arent drafting a QB i dont know what is...please god dont give any 1-3rd round picks for this guy...!!!
One side of me says if Gibbs didn't like the kid, then he's not worth much. But I remember Ramsey being a tough kid with a good arm who beat the Jets to start the '03 season. And if Saban and Martz are giving him a sniff, then the collective opinion around the league can't be as bad as Gibbs'.
Redskins | Team will not cut Ramsey; still hope to trade him Wed, 8 Mar 2006 05:27:03 -0800 David Elfin, of the Washington Times, reports the Washington Redskins will not release QB Patrick Ramsey. Instead they still hope to trade him in exchange for a second- or third-round draft pick. Other teams interested in Ramsey hope to surrender a lower-round draft pick for Ramsey.
I don't want anything to do with Ramsey. As far as I'm concerned this kid is damaged goods. If you want him, it'll probably cost a 4th rounder.
I dont see the point in getting ramsey if we are going to pick a qb on the 1st day. He isnt worth more then a 6 round pick to me
Insurance, do we even know if Chad will be able to play on opening day? Or will a rookie QB be ready and familiar enough with the offense by then?
If the price is right, I'd like him on the team. NO 1st day picks of course. Besides, the deadskins are bluffing. They'll need all the capspace they can get pretty soon....
I would take him for a 5th or later. QB is a need for this team, but no QB is going to save us short term unless we address the O-line. Every year there are future franchise QBs coming out and FA available for hire. I would rather Ramsey or Collins than a highly paid rookie to sit back there and get knocked around for a year or two.
Ramsey at least has some upside. Feel like we've gone for the more unproven commodity in every aspect of our offseason from GM to HC. Might as well continue with trading a 5th for Ramsey. Let him, Pennington and maybe a Charlie Whitehurst type player battle it out while we rebuild the offensive and defensive lines.
Ramsey is a tough kid (can definately take a beating), with great heart and a good arm. I definately think he can be a successful QB in this league and wouldn't mind seeing him in Green and White. I'm not sure if many of the people that are dead against bringing him in have even watched him play. IMO he is a durable version of Pennington (with a much better arm obviously). If we could grab him for a 5th or 6th rounder, I would do it in a heartbeat. I would even be fine with giving up a late 4th rounder for him (being that we've got 2 right now, and may get at least another in the form of a comp pick).
as a skins fan, I would be content with a 4th round pick 2nd round isn't going to happen, 3rd would be a bit of a reach.4th hits the spot just right.
With Ramsey, we don't have to draft a QB this year, and can head into the season letting him and Pennington battle it out. We can move down from the 4 spot (grab maybe another second rounder this year, possibly a first next year), and draft either Deangelo Williams, Lendale White, or Vernon Davis. In the second and third rounds we can address the O-line (hopefully if we trade down we will have 2 picks in the second). If worst comes to worst, and Ramsey absolutely sucks, we can always revisit the QB situation. I'd rather take a look at a young vet who's got an upside, then dish out a big contract to a kid who is just as much (if not more so) of a question mark.
