Indianapolis Colts DeMontre Moore 25. New York Jets Deshmond Trufant 26. Green Bay Packers Eddie Lacy 27. Houston Texans Keenan Allen 28. Denver Broncos Arthur Brown 29. New England Patriots Terrance Williams 30. Atlanta Falcons Kawann Short 31. New York Jets Matt Elam 32. Baltimore Ravens Manti Teo Draft 1st (13): Ziggy Ansah, DE, BYU Ansah is raw but has a lot of potential and now that we have multiple first round picks we can take a chance on him to develop him into the next JPP or Aldon Smith. He has freakish athletic ability and Rex would love to have him come of the edge and cause all sorts of problems with Wilk and Coples" 1st (25): Desmond Trufant, CB, Washington Trufant fills a newly added hole to the team but could come in and hopefully beats out Wilson for the other starting spot. He had a good combine and senior bowl and is on the rise. If Idzik and Rex don’t want to rush him into anything than he can be the nickel cb and develope into our future starter" 1st (31): Matt Elam, S, Florida Elam is a amazing safety and can do it all. He is an excellent run stopper and a ball hawk. He comes into a very weak safety competition and takes the spot easily. He does gamble on plays sometimes but his strengths block out his weaknesses and he will solidify our secondary with Revis gone." 2nd (40): Sio Moore, LB, UCONN Moore is a good LB that could becaome a very good one. He is a great tackler and has great speed and strength but isnt the best pass rusher. I could see him take over for Harris if he is cut after the season and take over at ILB but could also be an OLB too. He is versatile and a LB core of Ansah, Davis, Moore and Barnes doesnt sound too bad to me" nd (63): Gio Bernard, RB, UNC Earlier in the offseason I didn’t even think that Gio would be here but he has fallen a bit and is good value. He can do it all run block, punt return and run. The ""experts"" have been saying he is too small and doesn’t have the straight line speed to be a good back but what do they know. It should be an interesting RB battle in camp." 3rd (74): Steadman Bailey, WR, West Virginia Bailey is the best all around WR in this draft and we get him in the third. We add to a decently strong WR corps and then keep it strong when we cut Holmes next year. He won't have to come in and start right away but he will be ready to go. Also when we get our new QB in 2014 we have a more experienced WR corps but still fast and young" 4th (108): Jordan Reed, TE, Florida Reed is a very solid TE but I think that he will fall to the fourth because I don’t think that the other TE's will be picked as early as projected by the ""experts"". He is a tweener but he is better than anything we got. He wont be the run blocker we need (like Kelce but he was gone) but will be a good weapon for whoever wins the starting QB job" 5th (143): Brian Winters, OT/OG, Kent St Winters give us solid depth when Colon goes down and can play the T spot if Howard or god forbid Ferguson goes down. He may even be able to work his way into the starting G spot in a year or two." 6th (180): Quanterus Smith, DE, Western Kentucky Smith falls due to his ACL tear but had 13.5 sacks in a shortened year. He's a pure pass rusher and would probably only be used as a 3rd Down pass rusher primarily. We should take a chance on a guy who had 13.5 sacks in a shortened year. 7th (217): Sean Renfree, QB, Duke We take a gamble on Renfree he can come in and compete for that third QB and will hopefully turn into a solid backup. He has the skills to become a starter but it will take quite a few years to complete that process." Opening Day Roster QB: Garrard, Sanchez, Renfree, McElroy RB: Bernard, Goodson, Powell, McKnight FB: Hilliard WR: Holmes, Kerley WR: Hill,Bailey TE: Reed, Cumberland, Smith, Rueland RT: Howard RG: Colon, Winters C: Mangold, Schlauderaff LG: Ducasse LT: Ferguson DE: Wilkersom DT: Ellis, Garay, Harrison DE: Coples LOLB: Barnes, Moore, Sapp WILB: Davis, Bellore MILB: Harris, Mauga ROLB: Ansah, Smith, McIntyre CB: Cromartie, Lankster, Berry CB: D. Trufant, Wilson, I. Trufant FS: Elam, Bush SS: Allen, Jarrett K: Folk P: Malone KR: McKnight PR: Bailey LS: Purdam I know I added 3 LBs and not much OLine help but I have faith in Ducasse and we were good last year there
Lot of wishful thinking in this mock. I see about a 20% chance of Ansah being at 13. I'd love it if he were there, but I don't see it. I don't see Minnesota giving both 1st round picks to move to 9 to Tavon Austin. I think that's wishful thinking. I know that's what the Jimmy Johnson draft board says, but I really don't think that's realistic anymore. Would love to be proven wrong. But if we had 4 picks in the top 40 and didn't draft a single offensive player? I'd throw something at the television.
Someone else might trade back up to take Geno in late round 1. But even though I'm not a huge Geno fan, I'd take him over either Trufant OR Elam in round 1. With this many picks, you can afford ot roll the dice on a quarterback.
Ansah has 9 starts in college. Scouts who have looked at him closely thinks he looks more like 31 than 24, which is what his passport states. Remember all those Cuban pitchers who lost a few years here and there when they came to the states? I would not touch him with a ten foot pole in the 1st round.
Ansah isn't projected as an OLB in a 3-4. He's a DE, and we have spent the past two 1st rounders on DEs in a 3-4. No thanks on Ansah. We aren't drafting a running back. We signed Goodson and we are trying hard to send a 5th for Chris Ivory, who many Saints fans consider to be their best RB.
