This topic might find the sound of crickets, but I don't know where else to bring it up. I've been going to games for a LONG time, and some years ago I found that it really helps to bring a radio into the stadium. Sure, I look like a nerd at times, but usually everyone around me relies on it to find out about challenges, replays, explanations of penalties, etc. There are so many delays during a game for TV time-outs, etc that it helps to have Wischusen and Lyons weighing in to fill in the blanks. I get to inform everyone around of what really happened, or what the refs are up to - and of course, for out of town scores (remember the GB game several years ago?) For the first time ever, at some point last season the call of the game was put on a delay, and not a small delay, a large delay. Probably 10 seconds. As the live play ends, the radio call has just snapped the ball. It really really sucks, and I wonder why they started doing that. It didn't even begin with game one - it happened during the year. I stopped bringing the radio in because the delay annoyed me more than the benefits of having it. Why bother? Maybe someone here is in the radio biz, and can tell me why they started doing it mid-season, and if it will continue this season. Sure hope not. I'm also curious to see if I'm the only one who's noticed.
my fanvision works great get the TV feed, replays, different angles and other games going on at the same time recommended buy
Hello. Fellow Radio Nerd. I take a little portable radio into the games for the same reason. While I understand why call in shows might need to be on a delay, I don't understand why professionals like the Jets crew would need a delay. It's not like Bob is prone to dropping F bombs. BTW - I tweeted Wishusen to see if he could give me an answer.
There is what is called the 7 second delay that is used in a lot of radio broadcasts. Sounds like they started using it on WEPN too. Supposed to give a chance to bleep things out if necessary. Used a lot in call in shows for obvious reasons.
Cool. Excellent idea. Hope he replies. If you get a dialogue going with him, let him know that the fans at the game aren't going to be listening this season until the delay is dropped. The delay makes no sense unless they're taking calls from listeners during the game.
