I was watching the USC game and i noticed another player having the same number as Taylor Mays which is number 2... now im wondering how is that allowed to happen i could see if one of the players was red shirted or not active in the game but the both of them played in the game..

and i looked at the roster and theres plenty more players who share the same number and not all the numbers are available 1-99 so what gives with that... i know all the numbers that are not there are retired cuz thats a shit load of numbers.. i thought it worked like if your number is taken you got to wait til you get senority to get your number i think thats stupid...

some teams like USC who have like 500 players are allowed to have players wear the same jersey number as long as one of the players is on offense and the other is on defense

yeah but there so many number not taken in between 1-99 it should be where you have all those numbers filled up.. and if your on the scout team or practice squad then it really dont matter what number you get

You'll notice that most numbers doubled up are the "cool" numbers. Like you won't often see 73 doubled, but 2, 4, 18, etc., all the numbers that the skill guys probably wore in HS are what you see two of.

yeah single digits are the most popular but remember certain positions can only have certain #s so for teams like USC its needed
