#1 Indianapolis Colts - Andrew Luck #2 - Washington Redskins - Robert Griffin #3 - Minnesota Vikings - Matt Kalil #4 - Cleveland Browns - Trade Picks with Miami - Ryan Tannehill #5 - Tampa Buccaneers - Morris Claiborne #6 - St. Louis Rams - Justin Blackmon #7 - Jacksonville Jaguars - Fletcher Cox #8 - Miami Dolphins - Trade Picks with Cleveland - Malcolm Floyd #9 - Carolina Panthers - Melvin Ingram #10 - Buffalo Bills - Riley Reiff #11 - Kansas City Chiefs - Dontari Poe #12 - Seattle Seahawks - Nick Perry #13 - Arizona Cardinals - Luke Kuechly #14 - Dallas Cowboys - Dre Kirkpatrick #15 - Philadelphia Eagles - Mark Barron #16 - New York Jets - Trade picks with St. Louis Rams - Trent Richardson (For those that couldn't read this from before when I had Mycal Kendricks here I don't want to draft him here, I want to trade down #33 - Mycal Kendricks - OLB - He has played in the 3-4 system for 3 years in college, and moved inside this year. In 2010 he had 9.5 sacks at OLB, and 66 total tackles, 18 of which were for loss. Teams such as Pittsburgh, Texans, and Baltimore are interested in him. All 3-4 teams. This is most likely the last year for Pace, and he can learn while playing situationally in 2012. (If you are wondering, we receive a pick in 2013 draft as well in the trade. I will say a 2nd) #47 - Bobby Wagner - ILB - Run defending beast. He will learn under Bart Scott in 2012, and compete for the job late in the year. He will spell Scott, and provide additional depth if Scott or Harris miss time. #77 - Phillip Thomas - Some say this is a reach. However, there are talks about the Redskins picking him in the 3rd. If so it makes this pick moot, unless we move up to get him. If they don't, and I may be bias, I have watched this kid the past couple years, and is worth of this pick. 5th - Michael Smith - Back up to Robert Turbin for Utah State, but made the most out of his carries. He is an immediate upgrade to what we have seen from McKnight, and worst case scenario we have the KR that Westoff needs. 6th - Tommy Streeter - 6th for Staton - The kid is extremely raw, and is a low risk - High Reward player. 7th - Kellen Moore - To much upside not to take a flyer. If anything a practice team star. I will add Compensatory picks later.
Was that like a 10 second mock where you decided to draft only 4-3 players? I like Wagner and Kendricks in the middle but not so much outside... and the value is a little off especially for Kendricks and Thomas
No need to throw rocks people. I like the players you drafted but the values are way off in the 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th. Kendricks is a second round player, as well as Wagner, both will go around the same area. Wagner cant play OLB in this defense, if thats what youre intending, since Kendricks is limited to the inside. Next time, research before making a thread.
Updated with first 16 picks, and some reasoning. I understand this is not following the herd, but fills alot of needs. Also, ensure continuity moving forward for a few years. Of course, assuming they can contribute. Which can be said with any draftee.
As I stated, I didn't want to draft him in the first. I also said I would want to trade down. I also said that I would elaborate later. As far as Thomas in the 3rd, Mayock has him as the his 5th Safety, and have heard rumors of him going in the 3rd. I am not using the compensatory picks and we don't have a 6th. Therefore, I picked him in the 5th. If we can trade back, so be it. 7th, lol. What can I say? cbssports has him as a 6th-7th rounder. So, I picked him in the seventh.
Why do you feel they are 4-3 players? Size? I don't agree if it is size? Both are thick, and what they lack in size they will gain in quickness. Maybin was 9 lbs heavier, and 5" taller than Kendrick. Kendrick will have natural leverage due to his size, and the quickness to get tackles off balance. JMO Kendricks was actually a better OLB in Cal IMO. Yes he had more tackles inside, but he should. He can go left or right to tackle, but he was productive as a rusher as an OLB. IMO I don't agree on Thomas, but then again I am bias.
Okay so even without getting into the players you chose, you are on the clock in the 1st round, with a guy who is the top at his position, a position we could use help in, and that is an amazing value, and you want to trade the pick for a 2nd and a future 2nd? At the very least, you'd want St Louis's 2013 first rounder for dropping back 17 picks and passing on Richardson
I agree, but I didn't want to hear the Madden bullshit that usually follows a trade opinion. Quite Frankly, after the Redskin trade, I don't think both their 2nd's and a 1st next year is out of the equation.
This is worse than the original... If Richardson falls to 16 and we trade down, the organization honestly deserves to not win a SB for at least the next 10 years. God, if that happened, something would most definitely be going through my TV screen... If he fell to 16, you count your blessings, shit your pants, and run to get that pick in before the whole world ends... Imagine this from the Rams perspective- You trade down 4 spots, get the WR you wanted AND get the best RB since AP. Sam Bradford would be the luckiest man alive... Schotty doesnt deserve either of those talents either.
I can't argue that. Richardson would be an ideal pick for us, and would have no problem with taking him, as a Jets fan. Try and look at it from this point of view. Next year we have something like 31 players under contract, and will most likely cut salary by trading or cutting Pace and Scott. That will leave us with 29 players, and some absurd number like $110 million in salary. If we draft 10 players this year, and we are fortunate to draft 5 players that make the team. That will put us at 34 players. We need as many picks this year, and next to try and put together a WINNING team through the draft. We have to assume that the cap wont move that much, but lets say it moves up to $130 million. We will have roughly $15 million going into free agency next year. Of course, these are just assumptions. I started the Ray Rice thread, so I understand the need for a running back. I would love to have Richardson at 16, but I think our team is better off trading down, and picking up as many picks as we can. This is just a different perspective, but may actually best long term move for us. Please explain your thoughts on how we fill the roster next year without picking up picks, and not having to pick up scrubs in free agency.
well its an interesting approach and the jets would be in quite the conundrum...... the draft will be the place to be for the next few years as the cap isn't going higher and FA spending dries up a bit. using a piece like TR and dangling it at 16 SHOULD get u some real juicy offers from below. thats where team officials earn their keep - deciding what to do while on the clock and analyzing everything from team and player angles.
Okay, let me put it this way. Trent Richardson would do more for this team than ANY player in this draft. Period. Okay, say we trade back... We pick up say 3 picks between rounds 2 and 3... No one in that range is going to help this team like Trent Richardson would. And the likelihood of actually hitting on those 3 picks we gained (as in finding a player that can contribute and possibly be a starter)? History says that you will be extremely lucky to find even two quality players... So I highly doubt that we would find 3 starters/high contributors with those 3 picks. This team lacks a #1 back, and with out it, its like trying to throw 30 passes a game with Tim Tebow. The offense doesnt run well if the ground game doesnt work... and when you lack a true #1 back, its not going to run well. And when the offense doesnt run well, the whole team doesnt run well.. A 2 headed monster of TRich and Greene, with Tebow in the wildcat and a sprinkle of Joe McKnight would save this offense and potentially save Sanchez’s career. No player on defense that we could draft (or any 2 players in the 2nd round) would help this team like a sure fire pick in Trent Richardson. Once again, take into account, Tanny doesnt trade down. End of story... If someone thats ranked the 4th/5th overall player in the draft is there, they will without a doubt take him (just look at the Wilson pick- by far BPA in their eyes at a position that wasnt really a need, but they still picked him). The goal is to win a SB, and IMO, Trent Richardson would help us reach that goal more than any player. Oh, and BTW, Cleveland would never pass over Trent in this scenario.
