We're having Randy Lange on the show tonight at 9:15. To avoid discussing stuff that you already know from the newspapers, please post some questions regarding Jets topics that you'd like Randy to further clarify. In other words, I'm trying to avoid responses saying that we "didn't break any new ground."

    As always, thanks.

Looking forward to you posting the interview.

You could ask him about the O-line. Will Mangold start at center, etc.

You could also ask about the D-Line as well. The team didn't seem eager to fortify the unit in the draft, are they high on Adams or some of the UDFA, or will they be looking for a late cut.

I'd like to know more info about the 3rd round situation he laid out.

Bad news is I'll never get the answer since you do not have transcripts, and I prefer to not link to the audio

    Thanks for taking the questions...

What is the depth chart of the Oline going into the summer? Is Adrian Jones being shifted to RT and, if so, how will he be utilized?

I'd like to know what he thinks the chances of Chad actually being on the active roster this season are. If he can't throw wouldn't they just PUP him or something?

I think the Jets might be thinking he's never coming back. What does Randy think?

Not very exciting, but I would like to know what the story is with Askew, is he a FB, H-back, single back short yardage? Why has he not contributed more yet, and does he have a role going forward? I liked the kid when we drafted him, but he hasnt done anything since.

Excellent question, I think he believes he is a HB while the staff sees him as a FB....

thx, I am curious where/if he fits in. I thought he could be a HB in a single set or short yardage, but his # was never called, and with Sowell he never got a real shot at FB. Is he having trouble picking up blockers? scheme? He flies under the radar, but I thought he could contribute, especially if the CS figured out what they wanted him to do and figure out a plan to achieve it. Herm and co, talked about him, but were always so wishy-washy with a role.

Who do you view as June 1st cap casualties? Anyone good? Any offensive tackles, specifically? Do you think the Jets might look to scoop up a starter-quality RT to replace Jones?

    I'd like to know ...

    1) if they're going to pick up a pro personnel director (they talked about adding George Kokinis right after Mr. T was elevated in February, but haven't heard the status of that hire).

    2) I'd really like to know who Randy thinks is the most trusted talent evaluator in the org (I keep hearing Dick Haley is still around, Bradway, Clinkscales, Jesse Kaye, some young guy we don't know, etc.) If Mr. T's strong suit isn't personnel, then who is he relying on to give him the information to make decisions.

I look forward to your post.

    1) Jones Obviously is not a RT, who does he see starting there?
    2) Since Jones does not fit at RT, is the organization going to attempt to move him inside to guard on the left side and take advantage of his quick feet and athletic ability, giving us an extremely athletic left side of the line.
    3) BJ Askew, what is his purpose on this team, or is he just a wasted pick.
    4) Clement or Teague on the right side, since they seem to be the only two tackles left on the roster to play there.
    5) Is Chad eventually the odd man out? We brought in a former first round pick and drafted a QB in the 2nd round this year, that doesn't exactly exude confidense in his recovery and ability to play the position on a full time basis.

I'll think of more as the day goes by...

1.Will the Jets be looking to address NT to be more effective in the 3-4 as part of our hybrid defense? Pouha appears to be the only "stereotypical NT" on our roster, or do they plan on having Robertson/Pope/Pouha to split time?
2.Out of Schlegel, Kassell, Chatham, which appears to have the greatest chance to find their way into the 3-4 this yr?

    more questions as they come

This was close to the question I wanted to ask so I'll add to it. In addition to the above, it didn't appear as if they were drafting to build a 3-4 defense. Granted we're probably not running it all the time but when we do, looking at the current roster it doesn't look like we have starters at NT and OLB for this defense. Are we really planning on using a 3-4 very often and if so do we plan on having a bunch of backups out there? What about picking up FA Grady Jackson as a stop gap 3-4 NT are there any whispers of the Jets looking at him?

What does it matter what he THINKS? Randy Lange is not a fortune teller or a palm reader.

    3. Of the undrafted FA's recently signed, which ones do the Jets appear most intrigued with?

4.Any updates on Norm Katnik? This seemed to be a decent story developing until Mangold was drafted.

5.Also, I dont know If Ive been out of the loop. But what is the status of Andre Maddox? I saw more of his college play than Rhodes and was psyched about drafting him. Is he in the mix at all for the S spot, or with the drafting of Eric Smith in the 3rd, is Maddox considered a non-factor anymore?

*dont know if this was asked Im sure it has*

6.Is the FO expecting Mangold to be our starting C come week 1?

    1. Does not drafting an OLB mean we are most likley not going to see much of the 3-4 this year. If we will be playing the 3-4 who does he see starting at both OLB positions and ILB. Some people have suggested moving Vilma to OLB any chance in such an idea?
    2. Does he think any of our last 7 draft picks in rounds 3-7 has any chance of doing anything this year other than special teams. Does he think most likely they are all career back ups and situational players.
    3. Does he see Clemens riding the bench all year?
    4. Does the rumors about the jets wanting to trade for Julius Jones mean that Martin may be done or in danger of being cut?
    5. Is Blaylock the odd man out at RB?
    6. How much progress did Ridgeway make last year? Does he have any chance of making this team and playing a role.
    7. How bad is Pouha. Is he has bad as much of the gossip about him. Cimini said he is 27 but plays like he is 47. Does he have a chance of developing into a starting NT? If so what are his prospects?
    8. What is the liklihood that the Jets will carry 4 QB's next year. Any chance the Jets will trade Bollinger for a 6th or 7th?
    9. Who are the frontrunners for our starting CB's?
    10. What are Coleman's prospects of keeping his job? How is Maddox's recovery from last years injury? What do you think of R. Washington's prospects?
    11. How does Cavka play into the RT situation? What is the liklihood for the RT sitauation?
    12. Any validity to the rumors the Jets wanted Gocong with the 71st pick but traded down to 76 to take him?
    13. How do you think Magini's soft spoken, look away from the camera and rather boring style will play with the New York media? How does Mangini come off camera? Whart kind of problems do you forsee in him gaining the respect of his players following such a beloved coach? How long or how many losses will it take for Mangini's honeymoon to end with the media?
    14. What kind of offense do you see the Jets running this year?

DO they see Leon Washington filling a Blaylock role or a Curtis role?
HOw much contact has the coaching staff had with the players at this point? I mean, have we begun implementing our offense and defense yet, do they have playbooks, do the players know what their roles will be yet, or are we still in the process of determining who is going to be good at what?
With Jones and Ferguson as tackles, what does that say about our offensive philosophy - because that ain't no smash-mouth line.
Can Randy confirm all these zone-blocking run scheme rumors that we've been hearing?

Will Posiack be a TE for 2 TE sets or will he be a blocking FB?
