Good question, I guess I would like to know really what run and gun means in football? Runs mixed in with some medium or deep range passes? More risky play calling involving 5 to 7 step drops? No huddle? All anyone talks about nowadays are variations of a west coast offense, so I would like to know more about different types of offenses ran in the NFL.
"Run and gun", or "run and shoot"? Houston in 1990 ran the run and shoot. Steve Spurrier ran the run and gun in Washington, I think.
Run-and-Shoot This is a three or four receiver offense. The routes of the receivers are determined by the coverage. This offense is based on sight-adjustment passes. The receiver breaks away from the defender after reading the defender?s initial movement; the quarterback sees the same movement by the defender and anticipates which way the receiver will break from practice experience; neither receiver nor quarterback know before the play starts which way the receiver will break. The Lions, Oilers, and Falcons used this offense in the early 1990s. Fun 'n Gun This is a spread offense. Usually four or five receivers. The QB has to read coverages and look for the receiver in the best situation. This offense uses a lot of draw plays. Keys: -pass protection must be solid -strong running threat -QB must be smart enough to read coverages This offense stretches the field vertically. It keeps the defense from moving up. A solid running game prevents the defense from focusing solely on pass coverage.
ahhh Run N Gun, I bet you are asking this question because you used it in madden lol just joking with ya
