So I have read and seen that 120 million is this years salary cap. But I have also heard mentioned that its a soft cap and a solid cap wont be around till 2013. When I did some google searches for information on this I came across a few threads on other football sites linking to this one

I am no where near qualified to understand legal mumbo jumbo for lack of a better word. But if Im reading this right Bonus money issued 2009 and prior doesn't count vs the salary cap.

    Am I reading that right?

Dead money from players already cut before the new CBA doesn't count against the cap. The hard cap is in effect now, but the floor 89% minimum doesn't come in until 2013
