Which of these is a better bang for the buck?

    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/dell-in...lack/4344000.p?id=1219734729526&skuId=4344000

At first glance, the specs appear nearly identical, but then again I am computer illiterate. These will be for the kids. Pretty bare bones use - homework, word processing, light surfing. They have their iPad's for streaming and games. Also open to other recommendations around the same price point.

Staples had that same Dell on sale for $179.99 in their online Black Friday sale. Kinda pissed I didn't pull the trigger now.

    Thanks!

If you still use the term "word processing", you should probably get a Mac.

Sorry, maybe that was a little heartless, but I've seen the struggles that people who are computer illiterate have with Windows machines and they are as user-unfriendly as it gets,'and continue to be so with each new advent.

I don't like Apple products, but after spending 3 months teaching my mother how to boot her computer up, open a browser and login to her email... then another month trashing her how to compose and send an email, then open the response... I've begun to understand the use of an Apple device.

She has one now and is humming along without any issues.

Btw, she also calls it "word processing".

You know, I'm sorry, but I just realized this was going to be for your kids.

I guess either of those would be a decent option, since I'm assuming your kids are very young otherwise they'd probably go nuts looking at those specs.

I guess if I had to choose, I'd go with the one that includes virus protection.
