What big name coaches have contracts that run out in 1-2 years? Maybe Todd and his band of clowns are being extended to buy time rather than firing him and hiring some goon on a 3 year deal, which would knock us out of one that would be worthy? That's the only thing I can think of that would even remotely explain this silly extension. I know this sounds retarded, but why extend these clowns? Even Mangini is better than Todd, and he was a joke. Todd is miles below him. Somebody help me out, who will be available?
Ya cause any big name coach is just dying to come to this organization, where can I go where if I don't win a Superbowl in years 2 or 3 the fan base want to execute me....hmmm
I realize the brass will have to over pay, but we have to have a coach. Bowles couldn't produce a winner at the middle school level.
Stop worrying about coaches. You win with players. 49ers win moves them behind the Jets in the draft. Root for the Bucs to win their fifth.
Mangini knew talent , I'll give you that, but the players play harder for Todd. Mangini was almost as bad as the German Gestopo. Todd has the respect of the players and also the media. He's a no-nonsense person that has a lot to learn about coaching, for sure but, why even bother making a topic on this for such a subjective thought? I don't think the org is looking to create instability at this point.
If you are content to continue to have games Coached like today and losing seasons then Toddy is your man...I would rather us win a SB with disrespectful players and a HC who has mastered the art of coaching and in game adjustments ..are you sure the guys ONLY play hard because of Toilet or because they need a paycheck??
Mangini knew talent? Vernon Gholston says otherwise. Revis is all he ever drafted. His conservative play calling made him suck. He wanted to be Bill Belicheat in every way but we know how that ends. Todd has the respect of the players? What players? All these new under talented guys? Wow. I asked to see if anyone knew who would be available when this shit style of coaching gets him fired. And he will be let go. It's a legitimate question. By stability you mean 5-11 back to back seasons. If that's the case our Jets have been stable for a long time. Losing isn't stable in the NFL. He is a short timer. We might as well look ahead, Todd isn't our answer. Just sayin
nick, dbrick, harris, revis,b smith, leon washington, keller,e.smith, d.lowery. they hit on a lot of picks from 2006-2008. yeah they whiffed on gholston but they hit on more and that 2008 draft was a mine field of busts waiting to happen.
Look ahead to what? 2 years? 3 years? So your going to whine and moan about something that can't be changed at this point? Did "the shit style 'of coaching' get TB fired? It didn't - if you want to blame the front office great! But all you can do is just worry about the players that they put on the field. Todd Bowles is staying, like it or not. You asked for opinions here, this is mine, like it or not. Also, nothing about 5-11 has anything to do with stability. It has more to do with an organization that has a plan put in place. Do I like what has taken place so far? A resounding NO! But putting up topics about something that won't change for the foreseeable future is just a waste of typing and an excercise in futility.
Seems that not only is this team short on talent, it also seems to be short on answers to critical questions. If sacrificing the next 3 years for the sake of stability is the plan, then the expectations surrounding this should be a bit higher than just being "competitive". There is one way to attract top coaching/admin talent and that's to create a new apex position. Neil Glat should be demoted to anything other than Team President and give that job to the new Boss of Bosses. Make the chain of command linear and get everybody on the same page going in the same direction. President of Football Operations - create that position, give it the authority to make wholesale changes and you will attract the level of talent required to change the Jets from the top on down. The downside of course is that Chris Johnson will have to choose that person wisely or else the franchise will remain in the shitter for years to come.
I didn't ask for opinions, I aske who might know what coaches may be available. Whine and moan? Really? In all likelihood we will be looking for a replacement then, so why not look ahead? For what it's worth, why are you being such a Debbie downer? It's a real question whether you like it or not.
The fan base will stay behind you if you show that you can coach. That you can show something exciting. They will back you 100% if you can win more games than lose. If you can draft players that will get on the field in 3 years. What the fans don't like is what we currently have now. A moron who is just cashing a check. Shows no promise of better days, can't get a team into the playoffs let alone win a game. Someone that loves to punt like he's trying to keep within the spread.
Well, you asked a question, and it's the type of question that is nearly impossible to provide a a good answer to unless a intuitive mind can form an opinion as to why that's so. If you think I'm a Debbie Downer because I couldn't answer it well, fine. But don't you think I can also say the same about those who harp or demand or complain on someone or something that is already a foregone conclusion? Too hypothetical, don't you think? Whoops, I just realized my crystal ball is in for repair, ( it fogged up with all the humidity down here ) I'll be better prepared next time.
Not content at all. It wouldn't have fazed me at all if the Jets replaced Bowles, as I have stated may times that, I would drive a school bus up to his door and rush him to the airport. But this not about being content. It's about being realistic here. Why waste thinking and typing and discussions some thing we already know won't change for the foreseeable future? It's just so counter productive, holy cow!! It's like getting a monthly bill from the electric company that you know has to be paid but your trying to find reasons not to. Dam lets just move on with this crap and talk about what players are needed to make the Jets better for 2018.
Woody doesn't spend for experienced GMs and head coaches. It is what it is. Cross your fingers pray these guys can win the lottery with all the high draft picks and insane cap space they'll have.
With Gruden going to the Raiders, that leaves Cowher and Harbaugh as the top guys. Both would have to have a HUGE deal to bring them to NY. I want an offensive guy, and that makes Jim Harbaugh the guy, but to get him from Michigan, would cost BIG. If you want a team I would go Josh McDaniels as HC and Nick Caserio as GM.
A list of available offensive coordinators in order that would be an upgrade as HC consists of Frank Reich, Josh McDaniels, Pete Carmichael, Jr., and Todd Haley. Haley had a bad run in KC, but he is a little older, a little wiser and I believe would be a better HC now.
