Will an uncapped year in 2010 have any affect on current guaranteed contracts?

I see countless geniouses around the forum claiming how we can finally cut Gholston if next year is uncapped, but what incentive would our FO have to do this if we still owe him upwards of $17M in guaranteed money? I understand the train of thought that he's just taking up space on the roster/depth chart that could otherwise be occupied by guys who are busting their asses (see: Westerman), but would our FO really piss away $17M for the sake of freeing up the roster spot? Wouldn't it be wiser to just keep him around as a "serviceable" player until we cut the last of his guaranteed checks?

It is probably wiser to keep him around. He has been getting better, and would be really stupid to cut with all of his physical talent.

I think the only incentive is that there would be no cap penalty for releasing him. Actually, i have no idea if this is true, but it is in madden:smile:
