Is the only way we cut Gholston if they go with an uncapped year next year? Someone explain to me the possibilities of this happening next year. Also, I know there are threads bashing Rhodes, but I think we need a more physical Safety next to Leonhard who plays with passion. Where will Berry and Mays go in draft? It looking like there is a chance we may be sitting between 10 and 15 pick. Despite our need for a dlineman would you draft one of them and trade Rhodes?

Berry top 5. Mays top 10.

It'd be great to have either of them even if Rhodes was playing to his expectations, but IMO we have bigger needs on the lines.

I heard Berry and Mays are top 10, maybe top 5.

Leonard is below average so we'd be drafting a safety to play next to Rhodes, not the other way around.

And I really hope we don't draft a Safety, we need DL and OL.

    Don't trade Rhodes.

Frustrating thing is Rhodes has the ability, and has regressed since 2007 rather than gotten better, and its evident from watching games that desire is the issue. He's in more highlight films than any other Jet-- always 3yds from the big play that was just made. I agree each line is a bigger need but if a true legit 1st round safety were in our lap w/o value at those positions I would snap it up.

We have much much bigger needs on both the offensive and defensive lines. I would love to have Taylor Mays on this team and if Cody is off the board and Mays is available when we pick I think Rex and Co. wouldn't even need the 10 min allotment for the pick they would have the card ready for Goddel instantly. Rhodes needs to step his game up, he's talking like an all pro but playing like jag

The only thing Leonhard is below average at is is height...he has been amazing this season and I don't know why you think he is below average. He makes up for his physical disadvantages by his quick instincts and intelligence. I'm very confident with Leonhard as our starting safety.

Leonhard plays with heart, he doesn't have all the physical ability in the world but he plays hard and with passion. That's something you can't say about Rhodes, he's been a punk

I wouldn't say amazing, he's not too good in pass coverage and his height really hampers his ability to cover the deep jump ball, and we've seen that happen more than a couple times this year.

I know he plays with heart, I'm not knocking him for that. He just simply doesn't have the physical tools necessary to be a real playmaking safety, which is disappointing. If you put Leonard's heart and desire into a Gholston-like body, we'd have Troy Polamalu.

Leonhard isn't below average. He might not be a premier safety but he's reliable and smart and he's come up with far more big plays than Kerry "Twinkle-toes" Rhodes. Right now he's the more valuable player.

draft Dline, we'll be amazed with how much "better" Kerry plays when we start getting constant pressure on the QB...A solid line covers many a wart

Hm. Maybe I'm the only one who thinks he's below average. I may be wrong.

We need a physical safety on this team....I am tired of seeing Rhodes "overrated-underachieving pussy ass" every sunday....Mays would be a big upgrade

Yeah we aren't saying he is great, but he is definitely not below average. He is just good and reliable, and a key role player. You need role players like him on any championship team.

I just feel that his inability to cover the deep jump ball makes him below average, but perhaps he makes up for it with passion and good instincts.

It's not that Rhodes has been playing "badly". He's paid like a premier safety but he's playing like an average one. Couple that with his penchant for celebrating routine plays and throwing Revis under the bus via twitter it's just frustrating.

ugh...that was an all-time dick move...I hope he manned up in the locker room and let Revis get one free punch for that

I disagree-- zero positive impact plays from a starting safety after 9 games, in an aggressive defensive scheme, I consider to be playing badly. He's a big reason this team is 4-5, rather than 6-3 right now.

There are much more pressing needs than safety. Besides, Berry would be the only good replacement for either Rhodes or Leonard. Mays is a more athletic version of Rhodes. They guy doesn't hit hard, and makes horrible reads in coverage.
