Apparently he was placed on waivers by the Raiders. I know this was a guy a lot of us wanted. I'm not even suggesting we should make a run at him if he can't make the Raiders but interesting news.
A year ago, he was talked about as a probable 1st round pick. There is still talent there. Maybe he just doesn't want it enough. That's why the Saints cut Antonio Pittman today. It's why David Terrell never developed.
I loved Pittman and OSU and Darius Walker and Notre Dame. It's a shame both of their careers are pretty much over.
People said he was going to go in the first or second. Then when he fell to the third round, apparently he was an absolute steal. Mabey not?
The Raiders had six picks in the top 100. They may get nothing from three of them this year. That's awful. JaMarcus Russell (1) still has not been signed. Moses (65) is gone. Michael Bush (100) may not recover till 2008.
Depends how you look at it. Raiders found a real gem in fifth round in jay Richardson (two way DE) and in freeagency (chris clemons) that just made Q Moses place on the roster expendable. With that said, I must admit, I don't like the fact that Moses was cut(you can see his potential as a passrusher). You never can have enough pass rushers and they kept other players(IE Tyler Braytonand DB C johnson who don't deserve to make the 53 man roster. Who cares that jamarcus Russell and M Bush don't start paying dividends till 2008. Thats why they have a Daunte Culpepper and D rhodes (after four game suspension), so they don't have to rush either. Still have to like how the Raiders potential setup there future with this draft. 2007 1. JaMarcus Russell, QB, LSU (potential franchise qB) 2. Zach Miller, TE, Arizona State (stud TE that been all that he advertised to be . With emergence oF john Madsen Te looks to be set. 3a. Quentin Moses, DE, Georgia (looked verypromising as pass rusher- Oh well 3b. Mario Henderson, OL, Florida State (future Lt or Rt tremendous wingspan 3c. Johnnie Lee Higgins, WR, UTEP Will be bigtime addition as Puntreturner and kickreturner. also the third WR. Very exciting looking footballplayer. 4a. Michael Bush, RB, Louisville ( could be their future back) 4b. John Bowie, CB, Cincinnati ( Very raw player but has all the qualities you can't teach speed 5a. Jay Richardson, DE, Ohio State (Very impressive player against run and pass- real find) 5b. Eric Frampton, S, Washington State (probably makes the practice squad. just was beaten out by 25 Year old Exraven BJ Ward 4.4 safety who is a big time hitter. 6. Oren O'Neal, FB, Arkansas- devasting lead blocker in the lorenzo neal mold. Guy just destroys anything that get in his way. 7. Jonathan Holland, WR, Louisiana Tech (On IR) Now you throw in 23 year old wr Mike williams(draft day trade), who will be a major addition in Red zone.
I remember the nose tackle Terry from North Carolina in 1997 Draft, Parcells' first as head coach. Terry was drafted with the top pick in second round - a supposed steal, a first-round talent - but was cut before the season. We also just cut Michael Haynes of Penn State, a former first round pick.
That is not quite accurate. Terry played in 14 games for the Jets in 1997. He was cut sometime in 1998. He played in 7 games with Carolina in 1998 and 8 in 1999. Bruce Walker was drafted in the 2nd round by the Eagles in 1994 and got cut in camp. He resurfaced with the Patriots, played in 11 games in 1995, and that was it. Psycho Dimitrius Underwood was drafted in round 1 in 1999 by the Vikings. He never played for them. Most of you probably know the story.
Can you imagine not caring that your 1st overall pick and Bush wouldn't have any impact for a full year? What happens next year? The Raiders offense is so awful they should gotten Russell signed and used this year as his learning curve. There fans are so delusional....
Quentin Moses Cut by MISTAKE!!! I cant believe this....some organization Jeaux has over there in Oakland...cant even cut the right guys... well it looks like the Jets missed out on this one, but he might have needed to go quite a ways to be claimed off waivers by the Jets
Learn the game. NO way a rookieQb(no matter how talented) was going to be better than an Experienced QB(Daunte Culpepper) . Do you know Peyton manning threw 11 interceptions in his first four games. It didn't hurt Carson Palmer to watch from sidelines, his rookie year. You start a rookie QB before they are ready, and you can really setback their developement. Again raiders have more than enough at RB to take their time with M Bush. Yes Raiders offense was bad last year but that was last year. The offense system and personal is totally diffrent. So like I stated . Learn the game.
All that is not wrong. However, you'll have to stop making comparisons to John Elway, as you've done several times at TGG. Elway played in 11 games as a rookie, starting 10 of them. He threw 259 passes.
Maybe he does, but fact is right now he was the fifth best DE on the roster. (says something about the talent Raiders have on their football team) Raiders not only have awesome 4-3 defense but could put out a 3-4 defense the jets could only wish they could.
 Who cuts a third rounder in their rookie year especially one picked high enough to just be under 2nd round value? Somebody's getting fired for this one.
