I'm bored right now and figured I would throw something together. the 3rd round pick we were supposed to get in the Revis deal will most likely change to a 4th. I will not include comp picks here because they haven't been issued yet. I will include a few FA signings though Darrelle Revis - 5yr/60M Julius Peppers - 1yr/5M -- veteran and would be a nice mentor for Mo and Richardson Zack Strief - 2yr/4M -- good replacement for Howard (who will sign with OAK) 01: Odell Beckham Jr (WR, LSU) -- we didn't land a receiver in FA but we will be in prime position to land a good one, especially if Decker or Tate sign with Detroit. Idzik has been to many LSU games and has set up interviews with a handful of their players so I think we will be looking at them. ODB can stretch the field, is an explosive ST guy and has solid hands. an ideal n0. 1 receiver for us. 02: Martavis Bryant (WR, Clemson) -- we double dip at receiver with our first two picks. this team needs weapons. Bryant is a player I really like. I see people mocking him all over the place but he will be gone sometime in the second round IMO. he's 6'4 but does a lot of things a receiver his size doesn't normally do. he's quick off the line of scrimmage, he's excellent at tracking the ball. he's also a great blocker, something he did a lot of at Clemson. Rex Ryan and co were one of the few teams at Clemson and I believe Bryant is the reason why. 03: Jeremiah Attaochu (OLB, Georgia Tech) -- a player Rex is said to have a lot of interest in. Attaochu fills a void for us at OLB. I don't expect Pace or Barnes to be back. comes off the ball quickly, will generates lots of sacks with Mo and Sheldon up front. can drop into press coverage if needed, covers lots of ground. Another thing I like about him is his ability to read screens, usually blows up the backfield. 04a: Charles Sims (RB, West Virginia) -- RB isn't a huge position of need but I would still love to draft one. it's also a familiar face for Geno Smith. Sims is a well rounded back. as the quickness can run hard, catch and play on special teams. he would be a nice compliment to Chris Ivory. 04b: Arthur Lynch (TE, Georgia) -- may not be everyone on this board's go-to TE pick but I think paired with Cumberland it's a great pick. Lynch is also a fantastic blocker. he has the right size for the position. great route runner and is experienced. he is also a saint off the field if that helps, good locker room guy. 05: Kenny Ladler (S, Vanderbilt) -- safety is another position we are going to need to fill. I hope Ed Reed sticks around because he's a great mentor to the younger guys. has a lot of experience against top competition, adapts quickly. makes tackles in space. he had 5 INT's in his senior year and progressed every season. not going to bother with rounds 6 and 7 because it's tough to find diamonds in those rounds and I don't know much about players projected in the later rounds.
I love Sims in the fourth, he's not a familiar face for Geno though. They never played together, sims transferred after Geno left.'
What about Ryan Shazier? I feel like Rex likes him and he's rangy...we're probably going to dump David Harris next year.
This would be a fantastic draft. I personally think Cooks would be a better pick at 18 but I can understand why people like OBJ. Well done.
Stopped reading after Revis. Ain't happening, first and foremost. And I don't like that idea either. He can whore his way into getting that lucrative deal elsewhere.
I don't think Attaochu falls to the third round if he does that would be amazing but its unlikely. Also I think they should stay away from Martavis... I'm not saying he won't be a good football player I just think it wouldn't be a good fit. They need to get somebody like Davante Adams or Allen Robinson... Receivers who can get physical and fight for the ball in the air. I gotta say though it's good to see a fellow Arthur Lynch supporter haha.
would love to get Attachou (especially if he lasts until the third round). I want us to get a few WRs but in such a deep draft I wouldn't be keen to go 1 & 2 unless someone really good slips into the second.
