Our QB for next season is most likely on our roster, unless we pick up a veteran in the FA. I really like the idea of trying to acquire Kirk Cousins from the Redskins but that is not feasible considering we would have to give up picks. So that leaves 2014 for us to find our guy. Mark Will definitely be around until after the 2013 season. After that he can be cut without a cap hit which would be ideal. The two front runners I have, who I hope could be the next QB for the New York Jets come the 2014 draft are: Tajh Boyd QB, Clemson & Derek Carr QB, Fresno State I think both would be suitable contenders for QB. Thoughts? Obviously a long way away.
I really don't think the Jets can afford to go into next season with Sanchez on the roster. It's very hard to see how they avoid that but he's absolutely toxic right now for the fans and no NFL team can afford to keep a toxic QB around. It kills you in the media, it kills you with the fans, it kills your wallet. The Tannenbaum legacy is going to be that he got very close to a Super Bowl but he left the Jets in a pit with a handful of grenades and the pins already pulled. Sanchez, Revis, Holmes, there's almost no place that you look right now without seeing a huge problem with no obvious solution in sight. That's just terrible management.
I like the idea of Cousins. I'm not high on Boyd even though he's a tremendous amount of success at Clemson. Not sure about Carr.
Carr has put up some nice numbers at Fresno State, and he's still got a year to go. They play in the Sheraton Hawaii bowl against SMU. He's worth taking a look at.
The Jets will never have a great quarterback. Too toxic of a franchise. Fans suck, always wanting change, no patience. Fans are running Rex and Sanchez out of town within 4 seasons which, up to this point, include 0 losing seasons and 4 playoff wins. Sad.
It's not that simple and you know it. The Jets are 5-10 in their last 15 games. No NFL franchise is stable in that situation unless everybody knows that the management is good and it's just strange circumstances that have caused the problem. In this case it's pretty obvious that the management is not good and the record is a reflection of that.
Fans dont suck for wanting change after 4 seasons. In the last two seasons we have all watched Sanchez regress, and you know that. Sure, the talent around him has regressed, but that doesnt mean his fundamentals should regress. His footwork, accuracy, ability to read a defense, arm strength, leadership abilities have ALL regressed and that isnt a result of just poor skill position play. He should be able to hit a receiver in stride regardless of who is running the route. You see a rookie like Andrew Luck step in with no one besides Reggie Wayne and he's making his players around him step up. No names like Donnie Avery, TY Hilton and Lavon Brazil are seeming like quality players with upside because Luck is making those around him better. In year 4, Sanchez still cant do that.
